The "Lebron at Point" situation seems to be working swimmingly so far, averaging 22 8 and 9. With him and Kawhi, they can play with anyone, as proven last week when they eked out a 3 point win over fellow heavyweight LA Clippers.

Milwaukee continues their dominance as Giannis is basically a cheat code. Besides him, they're a bit thin on big men as Nurkic is still out, but it doesn't seem to matter.

The Clips are one of if not the deepest teams in the league, with 6 players averaging double figure points per game, 3 of them NBA Celtics. The x-factor for them is going to be Kemba Walker. He's struggled with coming back from injury, can he stay healthy for a playoff run?

Philly may be best starting 5 in the league. There's not a single hole anywhere. You could maybe say SF is their weakest position but they've got great depth there too with rookie Saddiq Bey being a really good rookie so far. As we approach week 9, do they have a deal in them to solidify a championship-caliber roster?

The Hornets are also very deep, but they've had some losses against the top 3 teams. Should that call into question their ability to win it all? Not really, playoffs are all about tinkering to match your opponent. The Hornets may have 4x as many losses as MIL/PHI but that's only 4 losses.

Brooklyn to me are the clear 6th best team, and the line after which teams go from great to good. The talent they have can play with anyone, but the problem is that they basically have to make a move to shed some salary at some point. For them to sustain success, they'll have to do so without compromising too much roster-wise. Levert coming back gives them some extra punch, though.

I am personally not a big ATL believer, but they keep winning despite all the injuries. They've beaten some pretty good, if not flawed, teams as well during their run, and Bledsoe has been the key, far outplaying his faltering NBA counterpart. Joe Harris is shooting 60% from 3 for the season.

Our first western conference team in the rankings, MEM is still below .500 but expect that to change soon. KAT is playing out of his mind, and Marcus Smart recently came back and provided an immediate defensive boost, holding all 4 teams last week to under 100 pts. Hield is also providing the scoring punch they were looking for, getting 19 ppg since coming over.

Portland is much the same as ATL imo, seeming to outperform the talent they have on their roster. They're still extremely young, but Ayton has given the team a shot in the arm. They did play creampuffs the past 2 weeks going by SoS, but wins are wins, and they're clinging to that 8th seed in the West and hoping to keep moving up. They also had a pretty tough 1st half schedule-wise, so the remaining games should be favorable to them.

If any team outside of the top 6 has a punchers chance of making some noise, I'm giving it to Indy. McCollum has returned from a lengthy absence (though he's out this upcoming week), and when you have him and luka, you're gonna be good. Hayward, Ibaka, and RoCo are all doing well this year as well.

The Rockets are starting to shed their label of "The Jokics" as a resurgent Tobias Harris, Tyler Herro, and Tim Hardaway Jr are all at above a 15 PER. Their recent 3 game skid was against all equal or better teams, and they're still firmly in the playoff hunt in the West.

The Knicks have had quite a few players take a step forward this year - Randle, Bridges (of the Mikal variety), and Ball all look better in the NBA this year (though management differs on Ball). They are really missing drummond though, and would have a really fearsome frontcourt when/if he comes back. Till then, they're gonna scuffle around and try to hang on to those last spots in the East.

Washington can't seem to stay healthy for an extended period of time, as Simmons has missed quite a few games this season. They are very much a top-heavy squad, based around him, kyrie, and fournier. Simmons at PF is interesting but I wonder how a look of him at PG and kyrie at SG would look?

The Pistons have scuffled a bit since trading Ayton in a bit of a win-later trade, but they still have enough pieces to make some noise, provided their defense holds up. They're averaging under 100 ppg on offense which is rarely a recipe for success. Will they stay the course, or continue to tool for the future?

Phoenix will be fine, provided Durant is healthy for the playoffs. The fact that they're treading water without him is a testament to the rest of the team, and that they're over .500 in the weak west means they'll certainly be in the playoffs. However, I have a feeling this is their final form, as they don't have much extra salary to make a trade with. But their GM is a savvy vet, so maybe there's still a move to be made.

We're starting to enter the territory of the likely lottery pickers, Denver has been blatant about rebuilding most of the season, but they have some momentum recently behind a revitalized Mike Conley. Rookie Immannuel Quickley looks the goods and is already a contributor, but Denver will be in the running for Cade.

The Pelicans are much improved after last season, getting Wall back and an All star Vucevic, but still not ready to compete. They're 7th in the West at the moment, and they may very well make the playoffs, but they need guys like Rui and Culver to step up before they can make some noise.

Toronto has made every player available as they sit in 11th in the East. It feels like they should be better with a superstar like Beal, but it just hasn't come together for them to this point. LMA coming back would provide a much needed presence on the inside.

The Lakers are another team that is just too young right now, but their future is bright. Wiseman has been an absolute monster, and with Christian Wood coming back from a lengthy absence, it's possible we see some movement from the Lakers over the next few weeks.

Golden State has been struggling without star player Bam Adebayo, and arguably their biggest weakness has been PG. Luckily, this year has 2 really good PGs in the draft, so I'm sure they're not too upset at the fall down the standings.

The Jazz have a couple of really good players...and not much else. They aren't getting much for points beyond Book, Brogdon, and Siakam, and none of those 3 guys except maybe Book is a true #1 option that can carry a team. Another team that will be eyeing one of those top picks, it'll be interesting if they try and parley one of those players into such a pick should they miss out.

Boston to me is another team that has had pretty bad injury luck. Their top 3 has played very few games together, and once those guys get together, unlike the Jazz, they have a legit #1 in paul george. I feel confident that if they can get healthy, they can sneak into the playoffs and make a tough series for someone.

After an improbable start to the season, things have started to crumble for Miami as they've entered full sell mode. Beasley being suspended meant their top scorer is now gone, and by the time he comes back the rest of their off-season acquisitions will likely be shipped for future assets. They'll be a lottery team.

Cleveland is a team that is building up for the future as many others are, but they have some nice young pieces in Sexton and JJJ (once he comes back). However, this year at least, they'll be picking in the top 10. They're a step above the bottom teams though.

We all knew AD missing would hurt the Spurs; I certainly did not think they would be 9-15. They have some tremendous guards and a good enough big in Harrell, I'm not sure why they're struggling so hard, but 1-9 in their last 10 is no joke. They are in the West so if AD comes back they can make a push into the playoffs, but there's gotta be real worry in San Antonio right now.

The Magic probably aren't "This" bad fully healthy, as blake can still give you something, and Bryant was lost very early to a torn ACL. Haliburton is doing all he can and may become the franchise cornerstone they desperately need, it'd go a long way if they drafted another guard this draft to pair with him.
