Dallas Mavericks - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 21 17 Dal 3-8 The cursed team of the year. GM Smokey left after nearly 20 years. Then they get some guy in who only joined the league to pimp virtual cards. Then he left and some other guys left and then another guy left. You get the picture. Two new GMs battled over this opening. Let's hope new GM Macgrimes made us make the correct choice.
19 23 6 Dal 2-9 The aging back court of Chris Paul and Demar Derozan has kept the wheels from completely coming off in Dallas, but how much juice does that due have left in the tank? Something the Mavs have to consider before paying Derozan in the offseason.
18 16 40 Dal 5-6 The Dallas Mavericks are a team that has slid down the western conference standings in the back half of the season and don’t have much to blame other than inconsistent play. A team that has been relatively healthy during this stretch, has gotten unlucky with a tough schedule, but also just stretches of inconsistency from the offense has let them down. Look for them to try and straighten out their problems to avoid playing a highly seeded western conference foe, sending them home early in the playoffs.
15 12 59 Dal 6-4 Dallas has been a bit up-and-down. They won 5 straight, lost 4 straight and are now on a 2-game win streak.
14 14 51 Dal 6-5 Dallas made a good move getting Jae Crowder the day of the trade deadline. Derozan will be a FA this offseason and is a big part of the team. The team could go into a rebuild or stay with what they got. There’s a lot of young pieces to start with if that happens. Chris Paul has a player option too, so in the worst case scenario all of the veterans could leave for nothing, but the team looks prepared for the worst.
13 5 77 Dal 9-3 Good news for Dallas with Wendell Carter and Marvin Bagley coming back this next week. With the main guys healthy they are really a good team and although I do not think they would make the Finals with their current team, there's a good chance they can make some noise and beating this team will not be easy.
12 8 66 Dal 8-3 Demar Derozan has been an All-NBA type player this year and Chris Paul has been great alongside him. Bagley has been great when playing, but has dealt with injuries all season. Having young players like Bagley and Carter let this team have a chance to win now or rebuild.
11 3 92 Dal 10-1 Good deal: DeRozan deal. I know DeRozan has a expiring contract, but he still has a lot of value bringing 29 points per game. This is what NBA 2k is all about. Scoring. Ok deal: Vucevic deal. Ok Pels pick was valuable at time, but it will lose value if you move one of the best centers in the game to them.
10 5 86 Dal 9-2 Its been radio silence from the Dallas front office recently, but can you blame them? Derozan looks like an MVP candidate and the team has gone 9-2 over their last 11 games. Riding the momentum, why stop now?
9 11 54 Dal 6-5 Dallas is stuck between tanking and pushing toward the top. They have young talent, but also some quality veterans. Except that they're very clearly behind OKC and LAC. Perhaps Bagley or Carter Jr. could be dangled for a win-now piece.
8 17 32 Dal 4-7 The Mavericks have already changed hands a few times this year after an active offseason saw them bolster for a play-off run this year, before looking to flip back towards a rebuild. They’re still one of the better teams in the west, led by DeMar DeRozan, and just recently introduced another new owner a few days back. What does the future hold for the Mavs?
7 25 7 Dal 2-8 Dallas has been a team in flux lately management-wise, but they remain in 3rd place in the West. I'd have them higher, but alas I don't pick the places here, and they are scuffling lately, going 3-7 in their last 10.
6 16 34 Dal 5-5 Welcome New GM Skittles! Dallas is in an odd spot, there are a mix of players having both youth and veterans. Skittles said in a recent press conference "My plan for the near future is to ride out the next few weeks to see how legitimate the success of the team is." The team has the opportunity to go full rebuild or to go all in, and it seems like Dallas is in good hands.
5 15 34 Dal 5-4 I don't know what the future holds for Dallas, and I am not sure the man in charge there does either. Most of the main pieces remain on the block, yet the team remains in 3rd place with an impressive 13-8 record. Things are headed downhill quick in Dallas though it seems as the team is only 1-6 in it's last 7. Somebody pull the emergency brake!
4 7 71 Dal 8-2 Dallas is playing two contending teams this week, and Wendell Carter Jr and Marvin Bagley III are both back. They went 3-0 last week while shorthanded in the frontcourt, and this team looks like can truly compete for a title. Demar Derozan is playing out of his mind and is in the MVP conversation and Marvin Bagley has played great also putting up MVP type numbers. It will be very interesting to see where new GM haydengray takes Dallas with options for rebuild or win now being available.
3 7 76 Dal 8-3 The Mavs changed GMs last week despite coming out well above where they were expecting to be and long term GM Smokey having started to make moves to look to the future ahead of the right now. It hasn't mattered yet, 8-3, and GM Haydo has taken the reins to a team that has a plethora of directional opportunities. He's also taken to the GM thing here like a fish to water and the Mavs, thankfully, look like they're in great hands to make a transition into whatever Haydo sees for them going forward. They are laden with talent, and the trade phones are open to mix and match.
2 2 73 Dal 7-1 What a shakeup. Second in the Power Rankings, currently the top seed in the Western Conference, and GM Smokey announces that he's stepping away after 18 years. They are a talented team to be sure, but Smokey has always had a knack for managing his team to a far better record than what most would expect. It seems unlikely that Smokey's replacement will be able to keep them atop the standings, but who knows? He could have a few tricks up his sleeve.
1 6 32 Dal 3-1 GM smokey's offseason checklist... flip roster- check. Smokey really is a great GM, as he continues to shuffle his team, but they still end up on the top half of the standings. Bagley has been playing lights out, and you gotta wonder how he snuck so much talent away from the Pels.
