Orlando Magic - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 27 -6 Orl 2-9 Orlando got Javied. Hard. There may be only one GM worse in the NLL history than Javi. Smokey came out of retirement to fix this team. Will he get Cade? Will the Magic ever be good again?
19 29 -24 Orl 1-10 Not a lot of Magic going on in Orlando. However, Moses Brown has averaged a double double since being acquired earlier this season
18 28 -16 Orl 1-10 Orlando has taken this tank to the next level, and are fully looking forward to great off season to get young talent and work towards a future down the road.
15 26 -2 Orl 2-8 They have fewer losses than the teams below them in recent weeks. That's just about all there is to say about the Magic.
14 28 -9 Orl 1-9 Orlando is going slow with the rebuild and should be trusted as they have one of the best GMs in the history of the NLL. He knows what he is doing with trades and trading Haliburton was very good for this franchise since one player can’t build the team. It’s a rebuilding year, but the team has seen some success at times. This draft is big for them as they currently have 2 1sts in this years draft.
13 26 3 Orl 2-8 The draft is going to be big for Orlando this offseason. They could get their potential franchise star, after trading one away. Deandre Hunter has looked pretty good for them, but is not good enough to be the #1 option. The roster is solid though with Bryant, White, Hunter, Brown, and Claxton all being good young players.
12 28 2 Orl 3-8 Things are looking bright with GM Smokey returning to take over the Magic. He started his tenure with a big trade of Tyrese Haliburton and getting Deandre Hunter and 2 1st round picks. They are rebuilding still, but the future is looking bright.
11 21 21 Orl 4-6 Back to work deal: Smokey return to the league was pretty much a splash. They sent away Haliburton and Ardiacomo for Hunter, the new rebound machine Whiteside like Moses Brown and 2 first round picks! Well done! IDK who the hell are these guys deal: DaQuan Jeffries and Hartenstein for Tony Bradley...is a small deal... or what I could say, a indie deal, which does not change anything ... for anyone.
10 28 -4 Orl 2-9 Orlando recently hired veteran GM Smokey in hopes of leading a rebuild. One of the most well respected figures in league history has a plan, but it comes at the expense of moving potential ROY, Tyrese Halliburton.
9 28 -10 Orl 1-10 The Magic just gained a great GM, but also lost the most recent battle of tanking teams by beating Sacramento.
8 30 -32 Orl 0-11 Last, but not least, Orlando. The Magic have struggled mightily this season, but they’re another one of those teams that were left for waste by the GM before. Tyrese Haliburton has been coming alive as of late, providing a bright spot to an otherwise dark situation. At least Blake is back, eh?
7 30 -20 Orl 1-10 The Magic probably aren't "This" bad fully healthy, as blake can still give you something, and Bryant was lost very early to a torn ACL. Haliburton is doing all he can and may become the franchise cornerstone they desperately need, it'd go a long way if they drafted another guard this draft to pair with him.
6 28 -13 Orl 1-9 Welcome New GM Matt Sandells! Orlando is in a rebuilding stage now, and Blake Griffin signing on a small contract really helps the Magic out. He is now tradable, which can help Orlando get more assets. Tyrese Haliburton started off slow, but started to pick up his pace before his injury. The top 4 players on the Magic are all currently out right now, but it does not hurt the team long-term. The teams' future doesn't look bad, and the lottery will be big for them this year.
5 25 5 Orl 2-8 Orlando is a team in rebuild mode. I don't expect to see the GM do much more than sell what assets the team has for younger players and draft picks to get the rebuild off the ground. From the few conversations I have had with the rookie GM he seems to very much understand the value that his pieces should fetch, and as a result I do expect this team to improve over the next season or two to a respectable level. He was dealt a hand I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, and for that you have to commend his bravery!
4 28 -14 Orl 1-9 Orlando has now gone through a GM change, and the look of the team looks similar to before. Rebuild. The team has some good talent, with Haliburton, White, and Bryant, but they won't make much noise this season. With Blake Griffin now out the team looks even worse than before. Griffin will be hard for new GM JakeSmith to move, but the team is in a good position to rebuild.
3 28 -18 Orl 1-10 Orlando are down in the doldrums. They're still waiting on the debut of Nic Claxton, and acquired the season ended Thomas Bryant, but had hoped that Blake Griffin would have shown enough to entice even the cheapest of buyer, but he's now looking like he's going to sit out too until he and management resolve their differences. That is a tough sell, though. Derrick White missed time, but is finally back, Beverley too, and Sterling Brown was a nice find from their Rights pile. Hang in there, Leb.
2 29 -24 Orl 0-8 Don't look now, but Orlando just got their first win. And not only did they get a win but they did it in convincing fashion against the 7-3 (at the time 6-2) Rockets. So while the Power Rankings have the Magic battling for the bottom spot based on their winless record, perhaps this is a sign that Orlando is ready to start their climb. They've still got to face Brooklyn and Indiana in week 3, so maybe it will be a slow climb.
1 27 -7 Orl 0-4 In tank we trust? or is that Caleb? Lauri was moved, but Blake stayed. Orlando wants to move on from some of his guys, but did a great job adding Isaiah Hartenstein, who could be an early nom for most improved.
