Denver Nuggets - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 16 45 Den 6-6 Denver is also fighting to survive and will have to face the Grizzlies. The team has a lot of little guards and not much else having traded away franchise cornerstone Paul Millsap to the Celts and Tristan Thompson for Joe Ingles. Even if the Nuggets sneak into the playoffs at 8th seed, we don't see them getting very far.
19 16 36 Den 5-7 Once thought to be completely out of the hunt, the Nuggets made a few trades and suddenly are a lock for the play-in tournament. Quite the impressive turnaround
18 19 23 Den 4-8 At 4-6 over their last 10, the Nuggets are trying to figure out the offense while getting geared up for a play in run.
15 15 54 Den 7-4 Denver bought Brogdon at the deadline. We'll see if that pushes them up further in the standings.
14 9 59 Den 8-3 Denver went and put their chips in for the playoffs getting Malcolm Brogdon along with getting Joe Ingles. Brogdon will slot in with Conley who is having a career year, and this team is in the playoffs as of right now. The pick will not be as valuable if they make the playoffs possibly changing the trade quite a bit.
13 11 47 Den 6-4 Denver has been a surprise this season after starting off bad. It looked like they would be just another bottom feeder, but have since entered the playoff picture as the 8th seed as of now. We have seen career years from Conley and Thompson as well as breakout years from Bridges and Quickley. The mix of youth and leadership has blended well.
12 13 52 Den 6-4 Denver started off very slow, but has since been great and are now in the playoff hunt. Conley has been rejuvenated and the big man have been great. It will be a great story if the Nuggets can make the playoffs after how this year started.
11 13 39 Den 5-6 Good deal: Jalen Brunson is improving week by week, scoring 10 points per game off the bench. He started with 77 rating to finally reach 81. Best backup for Mike Conley. Why deal: Enes Kanter is a key player. He does the only thing big man do this season, rebounding. Denver gave away the chance to win more giving away him.
10 16 46 Den 6-5 Denver has had a mixed bag of a season. Mike Conley is playing some of the best basketball of his career and Immanuel Quickley looks like the steal of the draft. However, the Nuggets are on the outside looking in at the Western Conference playoff hunt.
9 10 55 Den 7-4 After starting 3-17, the Nuggets are trying to ruin the tank by going 7-4 in the team's last 11 games.
8 13 45 Den 6-5 The Nuggets have seemed to switch gears this year, opting to develop their youngsters, such as draft steal, Immanuel Quickley, and Miles Bridges, while looking at trading Mike Conley. One thing’s for sure, Rootsey can’t wait to have Jonathan Isaac back next year.
7 16 34 Den 5-6 We're starting to enter the territory of the likely lottery pickers, Denver has been blatant about rebuilding most of the season, but they have some momentum recently behind a revitalized Mike Conley. Rookie Immannuel Quickley looks the goods and is already a contributor, but Denver will be in the running for Cade.
6 24 4 Den 2-8 Denver has lots of youth, and one of the bright parts of their team is out for the season in Jonathan Isaac. The team is a mix of youth and veterans, and I would not be surprised to see a lot of the veterans gone once they are available for trade. The team is leaning towards rebuilding and having their own 1st round pick provides for a promising future.
5 27 -7 Den 1-9 Denver is another rebuilding team, though a team that has drafted very well in recent drafts putting them into a position to have a quicker turn around than many perhaps expected. Late draft hits in Quickley, Bazley, and Simmons have proven that GM Rootsey has a keen eye for talent and will quickly turn this team into a contender once again. It was just a year ago this team was fighting for the playoffs behind a slew of veterans and to see where the team is at now is shocking to say the least.
4 25 -1 Den 1-9 Mike Conley is trying his hardest, but he doesn't really have a partner to help him out. Udoka Azuibuike is now hurt, but Mason Plumlee is back now. Darius Bazley has been very disappointing so far, but the young guards of Immanuel Quickley, Anfernee Simons, and Jalen Brunson have took on a good part of the scoring. The team will likely see many trades at Week 9 with the older guys out and some younger guys and/or picks coming in. The Nuggets need to pull together some wins in their close games, because right now they aren't losing many games by blowouts.
3 26 -5 Den 1-9 The Nuggets have waved the white flag and it has not been a lot of fun going 1-9 so far. Conley is missing games, to add to the season long injury to Isaac, yet again, and now Plumlee and Azubuike are out too! They simply cannot catch a break and the guys that are left are not able to hold up to the opponents. Quickley has been an exciting positive note though and Simons looks like he might be turning a corner too, so it's not all doom and gloom in Denver as they look to shuffle the deck and regroup.
2 25 1 Den 1-5 Has anyone had a tougher schedule to start the season than Denver? They've had to play the Clippers, Raptors, Wizards, Mavericks, Nets, Bucks, and Thunder. So, of their 9 games played thus far 7 of them have come against teams in the top 10 of the Power Rankings. Brutal. Their week 3 schedule alone is Brooklyn (6-2), Milwaukee (6-0), Oklahoma City (6-1), and Dallas (7-1). OK, so this might not be the week that the Nuggets start piling up those wins.
1 29 -8 Den 0-3 Probably the least expected team in the bottom of the rankings, Denver has much more talent than their record suggests. Perhaps the trading away of Enes Kanter left a gap that was too large for Rootsey to fill?
