Detroit Pistons - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 10 76 Det 9-2 The Pistons made an end-of-season splash by ganking the Sixers in the final week. The team was looking to make a statement going into the playoffs and that they did. They also turned around and whomped an overconfident Celtics squad in the first playoff game. If GM Justin can just learn to submit his lineup properly week-in and week-out, the Pistons could very well be in the conversation of league-best teams.
19 8 78 Det 9-2 The Pistons are a lock for the play-in tournament, and while they are a team that lacks a true superstar, they have been one of the best teams record wise the second half of the season.
18 14 46 Det 6-6 Detroit is another solid eastern conference squad who is trying to survive a juggernaut of a conference and stay outside of the play in. As the 7 seed currently, Tobias Harris and Ja Morant must continue to score in bunches to keep this team afloat.
15 18 41 Det 6-6 Detroit was starting to put it together with 5 wins in 7 games spanning Weeks 13 to 15. But now they're on a 4-game losing streak.
14 21 28 Det 5-7 Detroit had a .500 week even with Ja Morant missing the games despite being healthy. It shows how good this team is and makes you wonder how good they are at full force. Detroit was looking around for trades at the deadline, but nothing came up. This team has a bright future and are looking good for now too. They have two picks for next year of teams currently in the lottery, so everything could get even better too!
13 14 44 Det 6-6 Tough news for Detroit as Ja Morant missed the plane for the road trip and will also miss the next few due to this. The Pistons should make the playoffs even with this happening this week. The team definitely has a bright future, but also have a great team right now with Vuc and Harris in the frontcourt.
12 9 64 Det 7-5 The future of the Pistons looks bright. Ja has been great, and with the addition of Tobias and Vucevic this team could make some noise sooner rather than later. There is some youth too with Poku and two current lottery teams picks for next years draft. Retaining Holmes will be a priority for this team, but either way they are looking good.
11 5 81 Det 8-4 Good deal: Vuc is pure score and Clarkson is another hugh boost. Of course Detroit had to sacrifice few picks and Klay. But to win you need to sacrifice something. Bad deal: Ayton deal. Giving away Ayton was a total downgrade. Well at least Lauri is not in Detroit anymore.
10 12 51 Det 6-5 Arguably the most active team in the trade market, the Pistons have completely overhauled their roster mid season and thus far it has been met with mixed results going 6-5 over their last 11 games.
9 18 36 Det 5-5 Detroit is gearing up for a push to the top of the East. They've won four of their last six games, and with Vuc joining the team, there are more winning stretches ahead (at least more than there have been).
8 21 13 Det 3-6 After a surprisingly successful start to the season, the Pistons have begun to struggle since trading away DeAndre Ayton. The future is bright in Mo-Town, though. Ja Morant and RJ Barrett is a great starting point, and Jerami Grant is enjoying a breakout season. Getting Klay and Cole Anthony back next season will be a tremendous boost, too.
7 14 37 Det 5-5 The Pistons have scuffled a bit since trading Ayton in a bit of a win-later trade, but they still have enough pieces to make some noise, provided their defense holds up. They're averaging under 100 ppg on offense which is rarely a recipe for success. Will they stay the course, or continue to tool for the future?
6 12 47 Det 6-4 It is actually insane the talent Detroit has along with the picks they also have. The pistons have Ja Morant, RJ Barrett, Cole Anthony, Naz Reid, and Richaun Holmes, along with good veterans like Klay Thompson, Jerami Grant, Marcus Morris, and Derrick Favors. The Pistons also have 3 picks in next years draft all from 3 current lottery teams. The team success is there right now, but the future of this team is amazing!
5 7 59 Det 7-3 This team sucks...just kidding, but we do fully expect the Pistons to drop in these standings as we proceed on with the season. We have inside sources that report that while it was important for the Pistons to stay afloat in the playoff race this season, it was even more important to accrue assets that will allow them to have sustained success in the future. Perhaps you could liken the Pistons stance to that of the early 2010's 76ers, and much like then, the Pistons are asking their fans to "trust the process".
4 10 50 Det 6-3 Detroit has brought in Richaun Holmes, RJ Barrett, Naz Reid, and Aleksej Pokusevski with the recent trade they've made. Deandre Ayton is now gone, but the team now has more depth at the 4 and 5, as well as a talented young guard. Detroit sits at 5 in the East, with Klay Thompson out for the year. With Ayton now gone the starting 5 will not be as dominant, but they finally get the depth they have long been waiting for. Ja has been the leader just his 2nd year in the league and Jerami Grant has played great too. This team looks to be a future year round contender.
3 10 50 Det 6-3 The Pistons are 6-3 and clinging on to that original hot start of 5-0. What happened? Not much, they came in contact with Brooklyn and Philadelphia then leaked one to the Knicks too, but did start the season beating a heavily depleted Phoenix, Atlanta, Golden State and Minnesota, with only Utah being a current playoff team otherwise. So, maybe that, and coupled with missing some big men, the start was all they could have really hoped for and they're levelling out a little now? They have a great young team and are sorely missing Klay Thompson, who would have projected this bunch into a top level contender. As such, Grant slowly growing meshing with Ayton, Morris and Ja is a pretty rock solid team anyway, but can it be enough?
2 11 45 Det 5-1 Though he says (frequently) that he needs a reserve big man, Detroit sure seems to be doing just fine without one. And they are getting Derrick Favors back into the lineup for week 3. But this week is going to be a mammoth test for the Pistons, as they face New York, Philadelphia and Washington. This is probably why he wanted that backup big.
1 10 27 Det 3-0 Shock team of the year so far. Detroit without their best player is undefeated. Great team ball and lots of people scoring has contributed to this, with Ayton leading the way. Oh, Ja and Jerami also playing very well.
