Phoenix Suns - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 1 111 Pho 10-1 He's been saying it for a long time: Just wait until the Suns are healthy. Well, we've laughed at Penny for a few years but the Suns are now emerging as one of the top teams to win it all this year. With his top Western Conference competitors hobbled, it may just be Pennywise's year. The Suns finish out the year the hottest team in the NLL.
19 1 115 Pho 10-1 KD continues his hyper efficiency and the Suns are rolling because of it. 10-1 over their last 11. A now fully healthy Suns team could be dangerous come playoff time.
18 1 140 Pho 12-0 The Suns are HOT. Riding the heatwave of a 19 game winning streak, the Suns have surged up the standings all the way to 3 seed, and if they continue to just not lose, can make a play on a top 2 seed in the playoffs if the thunder and clippers continue to wobble. Kevin Durant has continued to show why he is one of the greatest scorers ever, while Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry continue to be reliable secondary options.
15 1 117 Pho 11-1 Phoenix is tied for the longest active winning streak and have won 15 of 16 dating back to Week 12. There some worry about beating top tier teams since among their last four losses were games against the Clippers, Hornets, Bucks (Mavs were the other), but the Suns did beat the Thunder and Nets so there's hope.
14 4 94 Pho 10-2 We have not seen much of the new look Suns with all of the injuries, but as of late they have been healthy and looked very good! The team has a good mix of veterans and youth, but two players are set to get paid this offseason. Markkanen and Trent Jr are RFAs and will likely get some pretty good money. It will be interesting to see if either are moved at the deadline or kept.
13 6 75 Pho 9-3 Everyone is healthy now, this is weird. They've dealt with injuries the whole season, but we now get to see the Suns at 100%. The Big 3 are surrounded by lots of talent and some quality youth too. Markkanen and Trent Jr will be paid this offseason, but Kyle Lowry is a free agent too. The future is bright, but the present is also bright.
12 7 67 Pho 8-3 Most of the Suns' roster is now healthy and Lowry, Durant, and Butler are all healthy which has not happened much. This is a great team that can compete when healthy. Now that they are healthy it's possible for them to win. The future looks good too having great young players in Markkanen, Trent, Hampton, and Clarke.
11 11 49 Pho 6-4 Nice deal: Lowry is aging and expiring, but still in 2k meta. Phoenix with Lowry, Durant and Butler is a top 3 team in the West and can beat even OKC or Clippers in a match-up. Dennis will not be missed… until next season when Lowry leaves. Another good deal: Rondo deal. Amazing backup point guard for MIA Lowry. With a healthy team, Phoenix will never miss their floor general boost.
10 11 53 Pho 5-4 The Phoenix Suns went undefeated in week 10 (3-0) thanks in large part to Jimmy Butler’s insane efficiency. 53% from the field and 57% from 3.
9 19 33 Pho 4-6 You know what I said about Indiana earlier? Just paste what I said up there, but sub out some of the names for ones relevant to Phoenix and the Western Conference.
8 14 42 Pho 5-6 The Suns have dropped off slightly, with KD rehabbing an injury, but Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry are good enough to keep the team afloat for the time being. New pick-up Lauri Markkanen has been excellent offensively so far, but Pennywise’s hopes to get DeMarvus Cousins back, seem to be diminishing by the day.
7 15 37 Pho 5-6 Phoenix will be fine, provided Durant is healthy for the playoffs. The fact that they're treading water without him is a testament to the rest of the team, and that they're over .500 in the weak west means they'll certainly be in the playoffs. However, I have a feeling this is their final form, as they don't have much extra salary to make a trade with. But their GM is a savvy vet, so maybe there's still a move to be made.
6 9 50 Pho 6-4 Kevin Durant has still only played 3 games this season, and injuries seems to be the main issue. Demarcus Cousins the Suns' starting center is not playing here in the NLL because he was waived in the NBA. Lauri Markkanen, the recent acquisition of the Suns is hurt, but Khem Birch has done well at filling in at center. The offseason will be hard for the Suns having Markkanen and Trent both as RFAs and likely to be paid pretty well.
5 12 40 Pho 5-4 We all know the story with PHO. Much like CLE the Suns have endured a heightened level of injuries with regards to the rest of the league. Unlike the Cavs, the Suns have hardly enjoyed having their best player on the floor in KD. It might not be panic time in PHO yet, but you'd have to think GM PennyWise is thinking twice about building his team around an often injured superstar in KD. As for Lowry's and Butler's absences this season you'll have to chalk that up to a streak of bad luck. I for one would bet this team turns it around as we reach the mid way mark and is a real contender when it really counts.
4 9 57 Pho 7-2 Phoenix has been dealing with injuries/absences all season and the same has happened this week. After Jimmy Butler returned to lead the team in scoring to go 3-0 last week, Lowry is now leaving him on his own. Durant is missing with an injury, and the Big 3 have not been on the same wavelength. Brandon Clarke has really played well in his 2nd season scoring efficiently and rebounding well. With the recent news of Demarcus Cousins, it is sad news, but Phoenix is hoping for a signing or trade of Cousins in the NBA. The team now has Lauri Markkanen, but he will have to wait to make his debut another time. Khem Birch has really stepped up when needed and will be a big factor for the Suns.
3 19 34 Pho 5-5 Not to say the Suns don't have some genuine stars, but they would probably be really happy with a .500 record having opened the season with NONE of their big 3, and only getting 3 games out of KD in 4 weeks (of course, at this time it's 1 week in 3). No matter which way you spin it, that's a real tough pill. But the positive as I said is, they aren't sitting 2-8 or something and when they get all the guys on the court together we all know what they will be capable of. KD looks like he might make it 4th week on the sidelines next week unfortunately, but Penny, we're rooting for him to play soon as no one deserves this!
2 15 29 Pho 4-3 After starting the season with their big 3 (Durant, Butler, Lowry) out, the Suns are ready to start tearing up the competition now that everyone is healthy. With this firepower, Phoenix should easily be a top 10 team, maybe even top 5. But week 3 is not a cakewalk as they face the Spurs and Hornets. The struggling Spurs already notched a win against them, so the Suns likely need to do some fine tuning to get this team humming.
1 21 4 Pho 1-3 This is more of a by product of having 3 all star starters out. Most of the 2nd unit played against starters and the 3rd team played against everyone's backups. More losing is expected in week 2, as the best Suns players are still going to be on IR at least 1 more week.
