New York Knicks - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 8 82 NY 9-3 Things finally bounced the right way for Poor Old Darko. Picking up Wiggins at the trade deadline gave the Knicks the boost it needed and beating the Hawks in the play-in game secured them a chance to play with the big dawgs. It has been a long time since NLL luminaries such as Yi Jinalian, Jamario Moon and Alonzo Gee brought Darko a title. Could it be time again for the longtime GM?
19 9 75 NY 8-3 Andrew Wiggins has been a revelation since coming to the Knicks. Lower usage rate, sure, but its the win/loss column that matters most here and the Knicks are rolling
18 8 74 NY 8-2 The Knicks have been a team that has gotten hot at the right time. A squad that at the midway point was a lottery team, now boasts a 17-7 record since April 30th and are trying to climb out of the play-in tournament. An offense spearheaded by Donovan Mitchell and Julius Randle, they also possess multiple scorers who can hurt you at different levels. This is a team that, given a good matchup, can upset a high seeded team if their offense explodes for a series and plays consistent enough to hold their match up to a decent offensive output. Look for the Knicks to keep up the heat and force their way out of the play in.
15 13 59 NY 7-5 New York pulled out all the stops heading up to the trade deadline. The upcoming weeks will see if that's worth it. The early returns from the D'Angelo Russell trade have been mixed.
14 11 57 NY 7-5 New York is fully healthy now! Now the lineup they are going with this week is...interesting. Mitchell is coming off of the bench with Bol Bol starting at SF. I do not think it will be like that for long though, if Darko can figure out the best lineup and rotation they should be a playoff team. If injuries do not happen too, but Russell is good for the rest of the season so that is a good thing.
13 16 38 NY 6-6 New York has been hot since things have started clicking with Russell. Randle, Drummond, Mitchell, and Russell should all be back and playing together soon. It will be fun to see the end of the year as the vie for the playoffs.
12 19 32 NY 5-6 New York has a great starting lineup when healthy with the recent trade for Russell. Olynyk could be a great get, and Drummond is now back. The bench is very good also, having Bazemore, Neto, and Bol Bol. Keeping Drummond and Olynyk in free agency will be their biggest priorities this offseason, but the team definitely has a chance to make the playoffs.
11 19 33 NY 5-6 Good deal: Dlo is a great addition to star Donovan Mitchell. New York finally find his combo guard duo, which is meta this season, bringing them to top teams in the East. Just watch New York. Paying to much deal: Andre Drummond is a huge player but giving away Bamba and picks was too much. On the bright side, the Kncks finally got rid of Harrison Barnes’ contract.
10 15 48 NY 6-5 Injuries and an extended time away from the team from Drummond, the Knicks have an uphill battle to get to where they planned on being at seasons start. Drummond will be back soon and the recent addition of Kelly Olynyk should help turn things around.
9 8 66 NY 8-4 Donovan Mitchell has been outstanding, but not enough to carry a Knicks team saddled with injuries. This was supposed to be New York's year, but they're currently out of the top 8 in the East standings.
8 11 50 NY 7-5 The Knicks are still finding a way to stay afloat, despite the absense of Andre Drummond. The bulk of the credit goes to Donovan Mitchell, who has been on a torrid streak lately. Darko has some youngsters up his sleeve who are showing loads of potential in Mikal Bridges and Kevin Porter Jr. Lonzo Ball has remained solid. Bol Bol has a cool name. ;)
7 12 40 NY 6-5 The Knicks have had quite a few players take a step forward this year - Randle, Bridges (of the Mikal variety), and Ball all look better in the NBA this year (though management differs on Ball). They are really missing drummond though, and would have a really fearsome frontcourt when/if he comes back. Till then, they're gonna scuffle around and try to hang on to those last spots in the East.
6 26 -3 NY 2-8 Drummond has been a big loss for the Knicks, and GM Darko is hoping for a trade or buyout soon so that he can join the team again. Drummond is the 11th best player in the NLL, and the problem is the lack of depth at center with Thon Maker not being available. Mitchell is the scorer New York expected him to be and with Lonzo and Dragic passing well, it allows Mitchell to do his thing. The Knicks still have their 1st round pick and their biggest question mark is when does Drummond return.
5 19 28 NY 4-5 The Knicks are amongst the biggest dissapointment accross the league thus far with regards to pre-season expectations. The team was built to win now with stars in Donovan Mitchell and Andre Drummond but sputtered out of the gates. With Drummond out now it will be up to young guns in Lonzo Ball, Mikal Bridges, and the ascending Juluis Randle to carry the load and bring this team up to where it should be, playoff contention. We'll need to see the Knicks turn it around quick if they want a shot at making it to the year end tourney.
4 21 26 NY 4-5 New York is hurting right now, with Drummond being absent from the team, and no idea of when he will return. Goran Dragic is also hurt, and they went 0-3 last week. New York played 3 very good teams though, and this week will not be an easy task, playing the Nets, the Celtics who have both Westbrook and George, and lastly the Hawks.
3 17 39 NY 5-4 Darko has been one of the most vocal GMs this year and we love it. He has a Julius Randle passion, and well derserved, finally. The man is in NBA Allstar form and the ratings are rising as they should. He made a big move for Drummond, on top of the Mitchell acquisition which was a stroke of genius IMO, but now Drummond is shelved for completely unbasketball related reasons which is going to be frustrating as all hell for a team that's on the playoff cusp and needing all the active play from their best players they can get. We hope Andre gets sorted sooner rather than later for you Darko.
2 22 11 NY 2-4 New York is a team that many projected at the beginning of the year to be a solid playoff contender. And with that starting lineup (Dragic, Mitchell, Bridges, Randle, Drummond), why wouldn't you? But the Knicks have been struggling to string some wins together. They were without both Mitchell and Dragic in week 2 but are back to full strength in week 3. So this should ideally be their week to get back in the win column.
1 17 7 NY 1-2 There is too much talent for this team to go below .500. And then they will have a rash of injuries to deal with in week 2. GM Darko was swinging for the fences with all the trades, so a weak ground-out to the pitcher will not go over well with the fan base. The Knicks cannot fall too far behind in a stacked East.
