San Antonio Spurs - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
20 14 48 SA 6-6 Fans are still questioning Anthony Davis at SF and wondering just much Leeroy's heart is still in San Antonio. The GM has been in the league for 18+ years but we haven't heard much from him this season though his simming has been a big help. The team also lucked out with Lamelo Ball coming from a supposed season-end injury. But something about AD at SF doesn't sit well with us. And he has also been awful fragile as of late. The Spurs make the playoff, but do they escape the first round?
19 13 58 SA 7-5 Anthony Davis is doing everything he can to keep the Spurs afloat, but should he miss any time in the playoffs, it’s hard to see the Spurs getting past the Mavs
18 12 61 SA 7-4 The Spurs are a team that is loaded with top end talent like Anthony Davis, and have Lamelo Ball to store for the future. As of now the Spurs are fighting for a playoff spot in the west and are 6-4 in their last 10.
15 14 55 SA 7-4 Davis' return is on the cusp of putting the Spurs back over .500 for good this season.
14 17 37 SA 5-6 San Antonio should have their best players back for a while now, dealing with injuries earlier on. The team does not own any picks and made no moves at the deadline, but Lamelo has changed the whole franchise not needing as many moves and not needing the picks either.
13 13 45 SA 6-6 Anthony Davis is back! This is massive as now VanVleet and Ross are the only players out now. They can possibly rise in the standings with Ball back too. This could be a season that is salvaged with a good playoff run. The recoveries for Davis and Ball were essential for this team to have a chance at the championship again.
12 16 40 SA 5-7 The Spurs have fought through some tough times with AD out for a bit and fearing Lamelo is out for the season. Lamelo is back and AD will be soon, so they could very well make a run in the playoffs. The emergence of Lamelo Ball will keep this team competing for years.
11 8 72 SA 8-3 Ok deal: Danilo deal. With Anthony Davis out even Danillo which is... also out... well forget it.
10 9 62 SA 7-3 The Spurs continue to thrive while AD recovers from injury. A balanced team with plenty of defensive upside, once Lamelo and AD make their returns, the Spurs could be a team that makes a considerable amount of noise.
9 12 50 SA 6-4 We'll circle back to San Antonio when AD returns.
8 20 18 SA 3-7 The Spurs continue to struggle, and AD’s extended absence is only adding fuel to the fire. Not to mention that LaMelo Ball, who was finally starting to figure out his way in the NLL, went down with a likely season ending injury. Things are looking bleak for San Antonio right now, Leeroy will have his hands full trying to turn things around.
7 27 -6 SA 1-9 We all knew AD missing would hurt the Spurs; I certainly did not think they would be 9-15. They have some tremendous guards and a good enough big in Harrell, I'm not sure why they're struggling so hard, but 1-9 in their last 10 is no joke. They are in the West so if AD comes back they can make a push into the playoffs, but there's gotta be real worry in San Antonio right now.
6 25 3 SA 2-7 San Antonio has been hurting without Anthony Davis, and VanVleet is now out this week. Lamelo despite his production in the NBA, has not shown that sort or production here in the NLL. He's likely just getting his feet wet right now though. Gallinari has seen a dramatic decrease from his MIP year last year, but the only real worry for the Spurs right now is AD's health.
5 14 37 SA 5-4 San Antonio sits in the 7th spot out West. That's right, you can read it again but the words will not change. A surprise to many, as many would have told you this team would be inside, or just out of the top 5 teams in the league coming into the season. The team has been without AD for some time now and struggled mightily. In their last 4 games the Spurs have dropped all 4 to the Mavericks, Warriors, Bucks, and Grizzlies. While teams do go cold everyonce in a while, you wouldn't expect the Spurs to drop 4 in a row to some questionable competition, let alone drop them by an average of 24.75 points!
4 8 58 SA 7-3 The Spurs started off rocky, but have since been good. Lamelo Ball has emerged, and Anthony Davis has gotten better, but Davis is going to be out for a little while now. He is expected to miss around a month, which can hurt the team's record, but I still expect them to make the playoffs. The Spurs are short on big men with Davis being hurt, since Harrell will have to fill in at the 5, and Willy Hernangomez along with Markieff Morris will have to man the 5 in the 2nd unit. Hernangomez has played well, but this is in pretty limited minutes only playing 11 mpg in 8 games.
3 13 43 SA 6-5 SA were off to a slow start, because AD was off to a slow start, but they're rounding into form now and we always knew they would. 13th is far too low for last years Western Conference champs and the roster is arguably better this year round to boot! Davis is POTW (yet to be confirmed) for week 3, and so he should be. The man has been maligned. Unfortunately he's also now dealing with a niggle that could hamper him most of the year on and on/off basis, but the Spurs will push on through. Expect them to be a riser from here.
2 19 14 SA 3-5 The Spurs are the biggest mystery of this young season. They started off the season fully healthy and dropped three of four games in week one. But those losses came to strong teams (Bucks, Wizards, Hornets). Then they split their games in week 2, which was without Anthony Davis. In week 3, they're back to full health and already notched a win against a mostly healthy Suns team. San Antonio won't stay down here long. They just happened to have an unbelievably tough schedule to start the season.
1 26 1 SA 1-3 Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the Spurs are no longer an elite team right now? AD seems lackluster compared to his MVP season, and the entire team seems to be suffering from a Finals "high". They better get it in gear, or they could be one of those rare teams to make the finals and then miss the playoffs the following year.
