The
Oklahoma City Thunder have made it 2 from 2 at home, to tie this series at 2
wins apiece. The Kings opened the game building a nice lead at the end of one.
But the Thunder got back into it, and with the home crowd rocking, dominated
the final three quarter for a big 20 point win. The final score was 121-101.
The Thunder
again got big contributions from Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green. With Carmelo
Anthony still guarding Butler, he erupted for 30 points and 5 steals. Butler also
kept Anthony to just 18 points and forced him into 7 turnovers. Green also got
the better of James Johnson, outscoring him 23-22 and out rebounding him 10-6.
The final
turnover count for the Kings was an insane 20-11, 15 of those were Thunder
steals, highlighting their great work done on the defensive end in this one.
The Thunder also won the rebound battle 46-39 despite the Kings shooting
marginally better from the field.
While the
Thunder starters dominated, for the Kings there bench was good, Reggie Jackson
had 22 and Gerald Green had 14. But it wasn’t enough.
Batum was
invisible, failing to score, and Rondo was beaten by Ricky Rubio.
Player of
the game goes to Jimmy Butler, for his 30 point and 5 steal effort, all while
keeping Anthony to just 18, his lowest total of the series.
Game five
heads back to Sacramento, but momentum is well and truly with the Thunder right
now. The Thunder will come into the Kings building confident that if things
remain the same, they are a great chance. I would assume Klemmelo has some
adjustments up his sleeve however. One might be trying to get Carmelo away from
Butler, perhaps at the 2 or 4. Another might be trying to find another scoring
threat for the starting line-up, Gerald Green or Reggie Jackson come to mind
for that role. One thing is for sure, game 5 is going to be so important for
both teams.
Tune in
for the all important game five, scheduled for Tuesday morning, 4am NLL time.
