NLL Insider - NYK v Bucks GM Interview

by spudspace, updated on Monday, May 22 2017, 02:18 pm EST

While game 3 is going on, both GMs finally had some time to sit down and talk to me about game 2.  Here’s what they had to say.

Question 1)  How do you feel about your team after 3 games, do you see any changes that can be made?

Badwolf:  Two very different games with the same lineups. Knicks got up big early in game 2 and we never really got into the game. Game 3 was just the opposite, we started better and just keep on playing better till last fee minutes. The message is clear, we have to start strong and we will win, fall behind and it's gonna be tough. Also, the ball is round ;).

Dunadan:  Well, game three was a crapshot. The final margin of 9 didn't pay justice to how dominant the Bucks were. The crowd at MSG left early. That does tell you something about how poor we played. There will be changes for game four. Lance is starting today.

Question 2)  You two GMs have been very PC throughout the playoffs thus far, give me some bulletin board material about the opposing GM!

Badwolf:  We got smacked around our ears last year by Knicks. Teams are quite close, 2-2 in regular season, almost identical records. We lost a starter and 6th man, so Knicks are probably the favorites.

Dunadan:  Bulletin material about the dark lord? I'm not crazy.

Question 3)  For the most part, both benches haven’t been major contributors to either team in any game.  While the starting lineups are the strength here, is this something that needs to be addressed in the offseason?

Badwolf:  I believe our bench is as strong as any in the league, but it's been a bit decimated by injuries. Bucks might get a big makeover over the summer. But you really address the bench during the season.

Dunadan:  Lol, i'm worried about the offseason just yet.

Question 4)  Give me your series MVP midway through the series for both teams.

Badwolf:  Knicks have a three-headed team. Irving, Harden and Millsap have all played well. For Bucks is mostly Russ and KAT. Neither player is quite out of his usual range. If you put a gun to my head then is probably Russ and Millsap.

Dunadan:  Clearly the point guards. Kyrie and Russ.

Question 5)  Who’s the LVP for your team, who’s not contributing like they should be?

Badwolf:  Poeltl might see reduced minutes, he hasn't been a factor in last two games. Shump's on offs are lacking too, though his stats look OK.

Dunadan:  I'm not putting any of out guys under the bus. We all need to play better.

Question 6)  In a game of pickup hoops, would you rather have Westbrook or Irving on your team?

Badwolf:  Westbrook is just better.

Dunadan:  Are you serious? Kyrie all the way.

Well, I love that they both love their own point guards, as we speak it looks like the Knicks have game 4, so this should be a great series!
