The Oklahoma City Thunder have hit back at home, winning
their first game of this series on their home floor. The first half was a back
and forth affair, that remained tied. The Kings held a slender 2 point lead
heading into the fourth, however the Thunder had a strong fourth quarter to
close the game out 8 point victors. The final score was 118-110.
The Thunder found their offense in this one, especially in
the fourth quarter, erupting for 40 points. As suggested in the previous
write-up, Jimmy Butler was switched to small forward, to be guarded by Carmelo
Anthony. And it paid dividends, with Butler scoring 24 points and looking much
more aggressive on the offensive end.
Draymond Green also found some form, finally winning the
battle at power forward against James Johnson. Green had 6 more points and 6
more rebounds than Johnson.
The Thunder also kept the turnovers down, 7-12 and shot the
ball a little better from the field and three point line.
For the Kings, Anthony had 28 and Gerald Green and Reggie
Jackson were strong off the bench with 12 and 15 apiece.
However as mentioned Johnson was a little down, and Nicolas
Batum was well covered by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
Green and Butler were better, but I'm going to award player
of the game to Nikola Jokic, who finally had some help out there. He was again
great with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
Game four will remain in Oklahoma City, and you have to
wonder whether the change in venue or the change in lineup was the catalyst for
the Thunder resurgence in game three. The Kings have now played one in this
building, so they may be more likely to keep things the way they are, and hope
for some natural improvement as they acclimate to this venue. Of course, should
things remain the same, and each team holds home court, the Kings will still
have the advantage as the higher seed.
Tune in for a huge game four, scheduled for Sunday morning,
4am NLL time.
