The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Month
and Rookies of the Month for March!
East –
DeMarcus Cousins
3 in a row. DeMarcus, if he wasn’t already, is clearly the Easts hope for
the MVP award after claiming his 3rd straight Player of the Month
award in near unanimous style over Russell Westbrook. He averaged 31.5 points,
14.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks with only 1.2 turnovers a
game and 49% shooting. He’s been a monster all season on 2 different teams, and
it’s only a shame that we won’t be seeing him in the post season to continue
being a man amongst boys. Congratulations DeMarcus Cousins on 3x POTM!
West –
Anthony Davis
Supreme. The man remains supreme. 4 months, 4 Player of the Month awards,
Anthony Davis. This time round he was near unanimous to win over Draymond
Green. March was his best month yet and his team needed it in the wake of
injuries to other big men on the roster, as he tore his way through the league
to the tune of 30.9 points, 13.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.8
blocks on 55% shooting, 41% from deep and only 1.5 turnovers. The Spurs have
been relying even more heavily on the Brow and he’s responded. They’re the top
of the league, top of the West and they want Playoff blood. Congratulations
Anthony Davis on 4x POTM!
West
Rookie – Dario Saric
He got a nod as ROTW week the other week, and now he’s a Rookie of the
Month too claiming 50% of the 1st place votes to beat out Jaylen
Brown for his 1st Rookie of the Month award. Saric even moved into
the starting line-up this month, as was the strength of his play, and he
finished the month with averages of 14.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9
steals and 0.7 blocks on 46% shooting including 40% from deep and only 0.5
turnovers a game. The kid was seasoned in Europe, and now he’s here to stay in
the NLL. Congratulations Dario Saric on Player of the Month for March!
East
Rookie – Brandon Ingram
Ingram handed last
months award to his teammate despite having a great month statwise, but the
voters didn’t like his drop in efficiency. This month, he claimed 50% of the 1st
place votes to beat out Buddy Hield to be a 3x Rookie of the Month. He boasted
averages of 19.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 asists, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks
while shooting a season monthly high of 43% and starting all 16 games played.
He’s been up and down and all around this season at times but his rookie
campaign has been the best of the East. Congratulations Brandon Ingram on 3x
ROTM!
