The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 19!
East
POTW – DeMarcus Cousins/Karl Anthony-Towns
It doesn’t get tighter than this! We have joint winners in week 19 as DMC
had 40% 1st place votes, but more preference, and KAT had 45% 1st
place, to tie on the count! Cousins takes home his 6th POTW award
averaging 34.8 points and 15.8 rebounds, while KAT takes home his 2nd
award, after winning in week 1 of the season, averaging 20.4 points, 10 boards
and 2.8 blocks. The big men were on fire this week and their teams loved every
minute of it. Congratulations DeMarcus Cousins on 6x POTW and Karl
Anthony-Towns on 2x POTW!
West POTW
– Paul George
Paul George has been great all year but he just put in his best week of
the season to blow all competition out of the water for the weekly award. It’s
his 4th award, and this week he dropped a season high 29.5 points
with 8.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists! He’s been really playing out of his skin
down the stretch to the playoffs and he’ll be leading from the front for the
Wolves in the playoffs. Congratulations Paul George on 4x POTW!
West
ROTW – Marquese Chriss

The West rookie voting saw 3 players have the same amount of 1st
place votes, but Marquese Chriss won by a point on preference over Jaylen
Brown, with Alex Abrines coming in 3rd. Chriss averaged 16.5 points,
9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2 steals a game this week on 66% shooting which
is beastly production from a raw kid! If he can build into this being the reg,
look out for the future! Congratulations Marquese Chriss on 4x ROTW!
East
ROTW – Thon Maker
Amazingly,
Thon Maker had only 25% of the 1st place votes this week, and Caris
LeVert had 50%...but those that voted for Thon obviously rated Caris a lot differently
and didn’t preference him, so Thon won the award by a surprisingly comfortable
margin. It’s his 4th award and he averaged 14 points, 6.8 rebounds,
3.2 assists and shot it 55% from deep starting at SF. He’s got a ways to go to
be a consistent player in this league, but he’s off to a good start!
