NLL Insider - One GM Switches Teams!

by vt, updated on Monday, June 17 2013, 01:36 am EST

The Detroit Pistons have moved quickly, snatching away a veteran GM to fill the post that opened this week.

The Pistons struck first, luring GM Mavs4Life away from the Boston Celtics.

"I love Detroit's roster," the new GM said in a press conference. "I feel like they'll be a championship team for years to come, and they need to have a good GM at the helm to get them a couple of pieces to help them get there. They've already got great players like Gay and Gasol, so I don't feel like they need too much to start winning and winning big."

That doesn't mean Mavs4Life is celebrating his departure from Beantown. He said that his best move as GM there was trading Chris Singleton for Chandler Parsons.

"I had a feeling that Parsons was gonna be better than Singleton at the time I made the deal, and I'm very happy that I made that move, as I feel that Parsons will one day be an all-star, while Singleton's NBA career may be short."

His biggest regret? Not trading Andrea Bargnani sooner.

"I should've traded him in the off-season of the 11-12 season, but I decided to wait and see what happens. He was dead weight for most of the time I was there. Also trading Steve Nash away, I should've kept him and Rubio together, trading for Kidd and Hill didn't really do any good for us."

But it's time to look forward and make the most out of the team in Motor City.

Mavs4Life plans to "draft a good player that can help the team now and pick up some veteran free agents, just build around the great core that Detroit already has. Then will see how the season starts and go from there."
