GM VT of the Philadelphia 76ers has been named the NLL's GM of the Year. He
received 3 first place votes barely edging out runner-up GM Smokey San Antonio Spurs by 3 points an
d the third place GM Magritte of the Oklahoma City Thunder by 8 points.
Despite his appearance on NLL Radio (along with Magritte), VT led his Sixers team to a 67-15 record, the best final record of any NLL team ever. After some major trades in the offseason, VT stuck to his guns, making only one transaction during regular-season play. His team is currently leading the Toronto 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
GM Smokey, the GM who received VT's vote, deserves recognition for taking a team that finished 40-42 the season before and winning the Western Conference. Not only did Smokey do remarkable things with his team, he also helped the league scout the internet for new GMs. The Mavs are currently leading the Lakers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
In third place, Magritte deserves recognition for not only his colorful on-air commentary (leading GMs such as Greenmig to swoon) but for keeping active in the league via trades. Despite losing to the Sacramento Kings in seven games in the first round, Magritte had a magical season hampered by injury to a key player (David West). It's also the first season, where after years of threatening, he finally traded
Chris Paul.....to the Kings.
