NLL Insider - FA Day II

by dunadan, updated on Saturday, November 12 2016, 08:08 pm EST

Unlike the first installment, this one went by without much delay or many glitches. Only James McAdoo couldn't decided whether he actually wanted to continue living in the US of A, or whether he should move to China instead. Ultimately he chose to stay anyway.

403 points were spent. So the majority guessed right on the poll.

Atlanta Hawks

With their single bid and 20 points the Hawks got a backup for Chris Paul. The same guy, who backs him up in the NBA now. Raymond Felton.

Boston Celtics

3 out of 12. Come on jmac. Really? Kevin Seraphin, Beno Udrih and Dorian Finney-Smith. They did better on Day 1.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets lost 26 points on Zaza, but retained their RFA Terrance Jones without a fight.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets struggled bidding against tough competition and picked up guard Galloway and one of the Harrison twins. It is not yet clear which one.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls already got their roster filled on day one and were content to retain the other Curry with the hot shooting ratings. That was their single action of the day.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Another major player by picking up six new players to fill their bench was Cleveland. They sat on their points until the very end when they successfully dropped a boatload of 50 points on Jennings. None of the others needed much more convincing than a call from Lebron. The Jet, T-Rob (coming back via free agency), McAdoo, Christian Wood and Brian Roberts now make up the bulk of the Cavs' bench.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs are set 1-12 with two more rookies to sign and picked up another rookie in PG Yogi Ferrell for his cool name.

Denver Nuggets

Denver signed RFA James Ennis, only to see the Spurs match and S&T him to Detroit. They also picked up rookie Troy Williams and invested 25 in center Zaza Pachulia.

Detroit Pistons

Laddas got Sheldon McClellan and acquired James Ennis in a S&T. Nothing much to see here. Let's wait for the next trading wave.

Golden State Warriors

GS was inactive all day until they suddenly woke up to grab Jason Smith.

Houston Rockets

The GM-less Rockets picked up two non-minimum guys no one else wanted to waste the MLE on. Cunningham is the better known name, but Kuzmiskas should end up he better pickup.

Indiana Pacers

Sheed was the most active GM with 26 bids, but no points invested. He ended up with Tim Quarterman and Marshall Plumlee. Better than nothing, right?

LA Clippers

With a boatload of cash, the Clippers dropped 40 on Justin Hamilton, who looks good in the NBA right about now. They were quiet the rest of the way, despite still having points to spend, their only other addition being Treveon Graham.

LA Lakers

Aaron Brooks and Speights. Both have had previous engagements with the Lakers, each winning a title there. Bass also wants some of that now.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizz retained their guy Troy Daniels and lost out on their two bids on centers. Why was there not more action here? They have money to burn.

Miami Heat

Craig picked up his usual bunch of 30-year-olds. This time it was R-Jeff, Nene and Randy Foye. He also top a flier on former lottery pick Anothony Bennett.

Milwaukee Bucks

No action for the Bucks, who never have any rosters-space and are still giddy about paying Mozgod 16mil.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Chris Anderson, James Johnson and RJ.Hunter are the first haul for spudspace in his new location. He spent his last points unsuccessfully courting Jordan Hill. Those points could have easily netted Hibbert or Wes Johnson. But he made up for the lack of points with volume, placing 21 bids.

New Orleans Pelicans

An active team with no signings, the Pelicans aimed big. Their only bid not on a big man was on Gerald Green. Too much competetion everywhere.

New York Knicks

The Knicks openend up the day with meaningless signings of generic Ndour, but worked their way up to the likes of prince Mbah a Moute, Roy Hibbert and Marcus Thornton. They also added overlooked Joe Harris and Nicolas Brussino, who is from Argentina. Not Italy.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder came into this one with one goal. Get their man and run. They got their man and ran. Their man was Javale McGee. Hmmm. 50 points down the drain. But hey, he does look good on paper (and on Shaqtin-a-fool).

Orlando Magic

Javi re-signed Frazier just to send him to the Clippers and picked up Portland cast-off Singler.

Philadelphia 76ers

Second in the spending galor were the Sixers. They got their man Barbosa back for free, but overspent on David Lee. They also picked up undrafted Argentinian point guard Nicolás Laprovíttola to replace Luis Scola and fulfill the spanish speakers quota.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix swooped in to grab the highly contested Wes Johnson. Well, actually they grabbed him without much competition. They also got Delaney who should be a solid rotation player right away.

Portland Trail Blazers

Portland picked up a nice player early and for free in Scola. Then they got Rodney McGruder before placing 40 points on Tyler Johnson, who promptly threw up. Later he said it was about his contract, but likely it was about the state of his new team. He is likely praying the Knicks will match.

Sacramento Kings

The Kings had a highly successful night, winning 5 out of 7 bids. They invested a league-high 70 points, but in all the right places except for the 10 points lost on Brooks. They ended up filling their roster with David West, Gerald Green, Dewayne Dedmon, Archie Goodwin and Marcelo Huertas.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs matched Jmes Ennis' offer sheet and shipped him out of town for Hollis Thompson in a cost-saving move.

Toronto Raptors

At the very end of the day, the Raptors spent their now worthless MLE on Derrick Williams. Not a bad consolation price.

Utah Jazz

The Jazz were looking for a big and finally came away with Jordan Hill. Does that mean WCS is on his way out?

Washington Wizards

Here's the record-holder for strikes. 14 bids and not a single free-agent to show for. Darko is still bidding right now. Without much success. Jennings was the only guy he wanted enough to put points on. But Lebron had other ideas.
