NLL Insider - Team by Team: Milwaukee Bucks

by proid, updated on Friday, November 04 2016, 04:03 pm EST

2015-16 Finish: 52-30

Season Highlight:

The Milwaukee Bucks are consider the “Evil Empire”. This moniker is a nod to BWolfs methodical systematic ability to acquire all manner of draft picks and not only convert them into productive players but to seemly keep the team extremely competitive while becoming perpetually younger with each season. Karl Anthony-Towns averaged a double double and made the decision to trade Boogie Cousins seem like a stroke of Genius.

Season Lowlight:

Not much of a lowlight here as pretty much every decision panned out and the team improved their record by 4 wins over the previous season.

Best Trade:

Its not easy gauging the best trade for the Bucks. Their transaction is a dizzing flurry of draft picks, points and after thought players. One that sticks out is: The Milwaukee Bucks send Marcin Gortat to the Denver Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets send a 1st-Rounder (Min) to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Gortat is an extremely effective big man. But between his salary and KAT poised for a quatum leap in skill and productivity Gortat was expendable and the Bucks were able to get a future 6th man out of the deal.

Worst Trade:

The Bucks consistently make low risk high reward deals. So there is nothing to see here. Move along.

Best FA Signing:

The bucks were eerily quiet in FA. They proceeded to sign all of their draft picks and proceeded to run teams out of the gym.

Worst FA Signing:

No Train Wrecks here

Star:

Russell Westbrook

Westbrook played all 82 Games and lit the league on fire while playing 100 miles an hour at all times. With 28pts, 8 assist and 1.8 steals a game. A slight improvement in his 3 point accuracy would make him even more versatile and allow him to pace himself better through games so he wouldn’t have to score all of his points using his substantial athletic ability.

Surprise:

Despite relying on younger players than the season before in both the starting lineup and the bench (2ndyoungest team in the league last season) the Bucks where very impressive and as mentioned earlier improved on their record from the season before. In fact it was their best record over a 5 year span that included making the playoffs each season during that time frame.

Goat:

(cricket noises)

Draft Report Card:

The Bucks had a handful of picks. A couple in the later part of the 1st round. They were able to get Wade Baldwin IV out of Vanderbilt at #13. He is a solid combo guard that knows how to play within his roll and is big enough to play some off guard if necessary.

Taurean Prince and Skal Labissiere where taken 20th and 22nd . These guys have a lot of potential but are as raw as sushi and will likely be doing a lot of practice holding the bench in place.

Deyonta Davis was picked in the 2nd round at #33 and has a pretty good chance of being the kind of sleeper pick that Badwolf is known for.

Looking to the Future:

The Bucks top to bottom are probably the most athletic team in the NLL. A team of real thoroughbreds ready to run up and down the court like wild cheetahs hunting gazelle’s. Along with at least 3 draft picks in next of the 3 coming drafts the status is going to remain quo for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming Free Agents:

Brandon Rush is the Bucks only notable free agent. Since he is probably about 5 years too old to be on this roster it’s likely that he is likely being swept right out the door.
