NLL Insider - Most Controversial Trades...So Far.

by vt, updated on Saturday, March 10 2012, 07:28 pm EST

First one, we start off with one of the oddest trades of the year.

Charlotte Receives: Chase Budinger, Delonte West, Marc Gasol, and Omer Asik
Philadelphia Receives: LaMarcus Aldridge, Trevor Ariza, and Mychel Thompson

Looking at this one, GM Loose of Charlotte gives up a star for the future in LMA. Everyone in the NLL knows he’s gonna do some things in the future, and Charlotte basically gave him up for 3 role players, and a guy who robbed his own teammate from the All-Star Game in real life. It doesn’t add up. Hopefully some compensation was involved, or the Bobcats were just flat out ripped off by the cleverness of GM Vt.

Another deal involving GM Loose. Looks like the old GM’s are getting the ol’ tricks from the bag.

Charlotte Receives: Ryan Anderson
Denver Receives: Marcus Morris, 1st rounder (2012)

This one wasn’t too bad, except for that 1st rounder. The Bobcats already traded its star as is and now they’ve given away what should be a lottery pick, if Loose decides to keep a Ryan Anderson led team together. Once again an old GM makes the new blood feel like he’s got the upper hand, only to rob him of a prized possession.  Looks like the Bobcats are looking forward to the 2012 draft and Shabazz Mohammed.

This next one involves a very controversial GM in Mr. WALLrus, who has made some very interesting trades. This one hasn’t worked out for him..

Golden State Receives: Lamar Odom
Orlando Receives: Mike Miller, Shane Battier

Ahh, WALLrus and Lamar Odom, two things that have caused so much confusion in this league joining forces to... save Golden State? Truth is, Lamar as yet to suit up for GS, although that should change soon, due to “personal reasons” *Khloe* That’s not the only reason this deal puts a sour taste in our mouths, GS traded away two amazing shooters Mike Miller and Shane Battier.... for a guy who cries  not wanting to be there . The two are very good role players, and are seasoned vets. Sure they have long contracts, but they are worth every penny compared to Lamar Odom.

GM points are usually good to use. However, if you are Boston and Utah, I would be careful on what you spend it on...

Utah Receives: Austin Daye
Philadelphia Receives: 22 GM Points

When you first see this trade, you might not think it’s that bad. I mean Daye  may be something in the coming years. However... 22 GM points for him as of right now is bad. 4.6 PPG, in 15 minutes isn’t really worth 22 GM points. It’s barely worth 10 (of course Mavs says that after he spent 25 points on Steamer) Utah already has Rudy Gay so... was this a case of a new GM wanting to make a splash, because he made more of a belly flop.

Our last worst trade up to right now belongs to the Houston Rockets, who decided their winning was a fluke, and shipped out a very good player in Marion.

Phoenix Receives: Shawn Marion, Eduardo Najera, Jonas Jerebko
Houston Receives: Jan Vesely, Zaza Pachulia, Yi Jianlian

The Rockets looked like a real good team, and still are. However, this trade scratches heads of many. Oddly, only Yi has been doing productive. Jan and Zaza are struggling with their  new teams, and many feel Houston would've received more for Marion. Houston obviously is in a rebuilding stage, but did not need to make this move. Marion is now a crucial part of the Suns, and looks to show the Rockets that they made a massive mistake.

We’re not even at the All-Star break and this year has already provided, heads scratchers, thinkers, and flat out WTFs. Will Philly make a move? Will Boston find a replacement for Ricky Rubio? Can Golden State acquire a man under 6’3? We can’t wait to see what the trade deadline has to offer.
