INSIDER's Top Ten Free Agents
With the free agent signing period about to kick into gear, the gears of each NLL are buzzing with excitement. This is the time that can make or break the structure of a team. The following list highlights the players that could be considered the top pick-ups out there. The criteria for inclusion is simple: the player is not signed with a team at press time. Like all good lists, this one is not meant to be definitive, but to spark debate instead. The writer hopes to see opinions posted in the forum. Without further introduction, the Top Free Agents of 2009.

Deron Williams
6' 3" 205lbs
PG

Williams is really a free agent in name only. He is one of three of the top 10 that the sagacious Knicks GM has left out there for others to drool over while he signs other free agents. Williams will be a Knick when the season begins, so save your bids. Likely Destination: New York Knicks.

David Lee
6' 9" 240 lbs
PF
If you read what I wrote about Deron Williams, then you know what I will say about Lee. Save your bids. Likely Destination: New York Knicks
3

Trevor Ariza
6' 8" 210 lbs
SF
Ariza is a rising star with a contract that is relatively reasonable. He has great defensive ability and can help teams at the SG or SF position immediately and for years to come. In a year without any real studs on the market, Ariza is this year’s top prize. The Knicks are certainly angling for his services, but so are several others. Likely Destination: New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks.
4

Anthony Parker
6' 6" 215 lbs
FG
Parker will be an immediate help to any team with outside shooting needs. He is really a shooting guard, but can also give a team some time at the small forward position if necessary. Parker wants to go to a team with a chance to start, but most of the teams with money available already have a shooting guard entrenched in the starting lineup. Likely Destination: Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers.
5

Paul Millsap
6' 8" 258 lbs
PF
The Knicks are still playing with us all. Do not be fooled, he will be a knick again!. Likely Destination: New York Knicks
6

Andre Miller
6' 2" 200 lbs
PG
It is difficult to figure out Andre Miller. His time in the NBA is clearly on the decline, but he remains a point guard who can distribute the ball and score with the best of them. However, will he get a chance to start anywhere and is his contract too big for a backup?. Likely Destination: Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz.
7

Allen Iverson
6' 0"; 180 lbs
G
Iverson’s age is certainly an issue, but he continues to be able to score when he is on the court. He will certainly offer an offensive spark to any team with backcourt needs, though his ability to cover point guards has diminished a bit and his size makes him a detriment when covering shooting guards. Likely Destination: Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Hornets.
8

Ramon Sessions
6' 3"; 190 lbs.
PG
Sessions is not flashy, not is he likely to lead any team in scoring. What he is is a solid point guard with good distribution skills, adequate scoring skills and solid defending skills. He will make a great backup PG or a serviceable starter for the team that lands him.. Likely Destination: Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz.
9

Rasheed Wallace
6' 11" 230 lbs
PF/C
There are so many teams that need good big men and ‘Sheed can still do a great deal to help any team. He has good offensive skills and rebounds at a nice clip. If he keeps his head on straight, he could be the missing piece for a contender. Likely Destination: Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs.
10

Chris Andersen
6' 10" 228lbs
C
The Bird Man is instant energy for any team that lands him. While he is probably not ideally suited to be a 30 minute a game center, he can play defense, block shots and rebound very well in short bursts, which makes him an ideal 6th man candidate. Look for someone to overpay for his services. Likely Destinations:Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Hornets, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder
