IR-olling in the New Year

TEAM INJURIES
Atlanta Hawks Markelle Fultz (Shoulder), Alexis Ajinca (Knee), Justin Patton (Toe), DeAndre Bembry (G-League), Malik Beasley (Elbow),

None of these players have had any consistent substantial minutes for the Hawks, so they aren't hurting with everyone out.  They have yet to see Fultz, but he would be helpful.  Expect to see him in the coming weeks.
Brooklyn Nets Cameron Payne (Foot), A.J. Hammons (G-League), Danilo Gallinari (Buttocks), DeAaron Fox (Quad),

all of these injuries hurt, as Gallo was a big time contributor.  Fox being out means that Napier will back up Bledsoe.
Boston Celtics Avery Bradley (Hip), Jeff Withey (Waived in NBA), Mike James (Waived in NBA),

Bradley could be a major contributor for the Celts.  James was recently acquired via trade, but is simply depth.
Charlotte Hornets Frank Jackson (Foot), Harry Giles (Knees),

Neither of these players would contribute major minutes for the Hornets.
Chicago Bulls Damian Jones (CD), Nicolas Brussino (CD), Dewayne Dedmon (Leg), Stephen Curry (Ankle), Mike Scott (Personal), Omri Casspi (Ankle),

Curry needs to get back on the court, as the Bulls just aren't a winning team without him.  Casspi, Dedmon and scott also are solid contributors, but Noah helps make up for Dedmon's absence.
Cleveland Cavaliers Terrence Ross (Knee), Tony Allen (Knee), Serge Ibaka (Suspended),

Ibaka and Ross were both starters and Allen played big minutes off the bench.  Milos' NLL debut will help, but Harrison should not be starting for the Cavs, and we wonder if James would be better placed at PF with RCo at SF until Ibaka returns.
Dallas Mavericks Jonathan Isaac (Ankle), Paul Millsap (Wrist), Nerlens Noel (Thumb), Lonzo Ball (Shoulder),

3 starters down, so Dallas will be playing with a new lineup.  The Len trade will help for Millsap and Noel, as Len and Nurkic will start, but I suspect that Smokey was hesitant to put Mudiay in the starting PG slot.
Denver Nuggets Troy Williams (Knee),

Denver is almost fully healthy.  Can they move up in the playoff race?
Detroit Pistons Jabari Parker (Knee), Jon Leuer (Ankle), Tyler Lydon (G-League), Okaro White (Foot), Derrick Jones Jr. (Waived in NBA), Victor Oladipo (Knee),

Oladipo was playing great for Detroit, he is sorely missed.  Leuer helps stretch the floor.  Parker can be a major contributor IF he can come back strong.
Golden State Warriors fully healthy.
Houston Rockets Isaiah Thomas (Hip), Mindaugas Kuzminskas (Waived in NBA), Timothy Hardaway (Leg), Dion Waiters (Ankle),

Losing both Timmy and Waiters forces Houston to play Miller and newly acquired Liggins as starters.  IT3 is nearing a return date, so when all 3 of them are healthy, the Rockets will have a very strong starting 5
Indiana Pacers Sheldon Mac (Achilles), Brandan Wright (Quad),

no one of major concern.  The big key is who ISN'T on this list.....
LA Clippers DAngelo Russell (Knee), Cody Zeller (Knee), Clint Capela (Heel),

Capela and Russell will be sorely missed.  Zeller was good off the bench.  Can Booker play well at PG?  Is Jackson prepared to start?  Will MKG finally provide some key minutes?
LA Lakers Rodney McGruder (Leg), Luol Deng (CD), Damyean Dotson (CD), DJ Wilson (CD), Nikola Vucevic (Hand),

Losing Vucevic will put the Lakers at a major disadvantage, as it's pretty hard to replace the 12th best NLL player.  With him missing a lot of time, LA could see their playoff seeding slip.
Memphis Grizzlies Dante Exum (Shoulder), Raul Neto (Concussion),

Exum has yet to suit up and Neto was terrible.  Grizz should be well prepared for the coming week.

Miami Heat Dorian Finney-Smith (Knee), Tyler Ennis (Flu),

No major contributors on this list.
Milwaukee Bucks Zach LaVine (Knee), Iman Shumpert (Knee),

LaVine has been MIA all year.  Shumpert was already in Badwolf's doghouse and trade block.  Milwaukee won't miss a beat.
Minnesota Timberwolves Glenn Robinson III (Ankle), Wayne Selden Jr. (Quadriceps), Justise Winslow (Knee), Jeff Teague (Knee),

Teague was the floor general and Winslow was a better option than Dekker.  The other 2 have yet to hit the court.  At least Minny will get some good players back.  Fournier will help ease the loss of Winslow.
New Orleans Pelicans Chinanu Onuaku (G-League), Dwayne Bacon (G-League), Reggie Jackson (Ankle), Caleb Swanigan (G-League),

Swanigan going to the G league is painful. He was the starting PF.  Now Layman will get his shot, but don't expect to be wowed.  Jackson is the best player on this team, he will be sorely missed.
New York Knicks Luc Mbah a Moute (Shoulder), Nene Hilario (Undisclosed),

The Knicks have the depth to cover these 2 role players.  Injuries aren't what is ailing them right now.
Oklahoma City Thunder Paul George (Knee), Juan Hernangomez (Illness),

PG is a big blow, but Green will slide into his slot as the Thunder will show that their depth will pay off.
Orlando Magic Derrick White (G-League), Noah Vonleh (Finger), Tony Bradley (G-League),

None of them are even decent contributors to this team right now.
Philadelphia 76ers Isaiah Whitehead (G-League), Julyan Stone (G-League), Damian Lillard (Hamstring), Brook Lopez (Ankle), Rudy Gobert (Knee), Kawhi Leonard (Rest),

The hits just keep on coming.  3 starters and a key backup all out.  Even with a seemingly harmless schedule this week, the Sixers will be lucky to get 2 wins.
Phoenix Suns Davon Reed (Knee), Gordon Hayward (Ankle),

Hayward is out for the year and Reed has yet to play for Phoenix.  The Suns will enjoy getting key reserve Bjelica back tho.
Portland Trail Blazers Brandon Knight (Knee), Justin Anderson (Shin), Furkan Korkmaz (G-League), Brice Johnson (G-League), Jaylen Brown (Achilles),

The loss of Jaylen Brown will force the Blazers to rely on JR Smith much more than they would like to.  Hopefully Austin Rivers will pick up some of the slack.
San Antonio Spurs Alan Williams (Knee), Patrick Beverley (Knee), Mike Conley (Achilles), Semi Ojeleye (Back),

Spurs problems are at PG.  Just because Portland used to believe that Sessions could start, Leeroy would rather have Beverley or Conley 100 out of 100 times.
Sacramento Kings Mike Muscala (Ankle), Mirza Teletovic (Knee), Jahlil Okafor (Conditioning),

Sacramento has the big man depth that they can offset losing these guys for a spell, but eventually, Klem would like to get Okafor back on the court.  The sooner the better.
Toronto Raptors Solomon Hill (Hamstring), James Johnson (Ankle), Kris Dunn (Knee),

Dunn and Johnson hurt... a lot. Olynyk and Rondo will move into starting roles, but now they have no firepower off the bench.
Utah Jazz Derrick Rose (Ankle), Brandon Paul (CD),

This is likely as healthy as the Jazz will look all year.  It's highly doubtful that Rose returns this season, but Utah has CP3 returning to help them forget about Rose anyway.
Washington Wizards Seth Curry (Leg), Jeremy Lin (Knee), JaMychal Green (Knee),

Darko was hoping to get Green to start and move Bender to a reserve role. Curry and Lin have not seen NLL time this year.
