Week 3 Injury Watch

TEAM INJURIES
Atlanta Hawks T.J. Warren (Foot), Spencer Dinwiddie (Knee), Gary Harris (Thigh)

The Hawks add Gary Harris to the report this week, but he hasn't been terribly productive for them so far this season so he probably won't be missed. Just another banged up week for the banged up hawks.
Brooklyn Nets Caris LeVert (Kidney), Jahlil Okafor (Knee)

The Nets come out "net" positive this week, placing Okafor on the list but getting back Bjelica and Troy Brown, who has not played yet for them this season, so it'll be interesting to see how Brown fits in the rotation. They've got a pretty easy schedule this week aside from MIL so they've got a chance to tinker a bit.
Boston Celtics Chris Silva (Hip), Jonas Valanciunas (Illness), George Hill (Thumb), Theo Maledon (Illness), Paul George (Foot)

The C's got a little unlucky this week, with V having come back a day after injuries were set, but the big concern is Paul George. What was at first a sore foot sounds like it could be some decent time with some fluid buildup from a bone injury, so they will be relying heavily on Russ to carry them through their pretty light 3 game week and possibly beyond.
Charlotte Hornets Eric Paschall (Knee), David Nwaba (Ankle)

After being injury-free last week, the Hornets lose Nwaba and more importantly Paschall, who was playing decent minutes. I'm pretty sure it won't matter with the depth they have, but their 3 games are pretty tough this week, so who knows. They may have to go a bit on the smaller side but they'll still be plenty potent.
Chicago Bulls DaQuan Jeffries (Ankle), Meyers Leonard (Shoulder), Patrick McCaw (Knee), P.J. Dozier (Hamstring), Raul Neto (Groin), PJ Washington (Foot)

The Bulls are hurting big time, but most of the new additions are just depth pieces. The biggest hurt is PJ Washington, their 2nd leading rebounder, which means it might be a tough week for the Bulls on the glass.
Cleveland Cavaliers Jay Scrubb (Foot), Kris Dunn (Ankle), Zach Collins (Ankle), Jaren Jackson Jnr (Knee), Aaron Gordon (Ankle), Luguentz Dort (Knee)

The Cavs get back 2 way Lamar Stevens, but got some tough luck this week as they're down 2 starters in Gordon and Dort, now known as Dorton. Gort? Whatever, they're important, and they'll be added to an already long injury list. Kyle Kuzma will possibly slide into the starting role at PF this week.
Dallas Mavericks Wendell Carter Jr (Thigh), Otto Porter (Back)

Porter has apparently dealt with a lingering back issue for weeks, and has now been shut down from basketball activities to give it time to heal, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's out a couple weeks to get him completely right, depending on how serious the issue is. Porter was starting for the 7-1 Mavs, so they'll have to find someone else to fill in on the wing. My guess is either Holiday or NAW.
Denver Nuggets Jonathan Isaac (Knee), Greg Whittington (Knee)

No changes in Denver, who have a brutal week with 4 of the top teams in the league.
Detroit Pistons Alen Smailagic (Knee), Klay Thompson (Knee)

The Pistons get back Derrick Favors, Mr. Reliable on the glass, which will be most welcome as the Pistons are off to a hot start this season and are looking to keep the momentum going against 3 good-to-great teams. This could be the week where we see how the pistons stack up against good competition at full strength.
Golden State Warriors Bogdan Bogdanovic (Knee)

The Dubs get back a 2 way guy and actual important piece Normal Powell this week. They have 2 soft teams on their schedule so we could see them make a push to get to .500, which is certainly unexpected even if their wins thus far have been against really bad teams.
Houston Rockets The rockets are completely healthy, getting back PF Maxi Kleber this week! They have a decently easy schedule but their highlight is a matchup with the Hornets. Can Jokic and the gang prevail?
Indiana Pacers C.J. McCollum (Foot), Naji Marshall (Ankle), Wayne Ellington (Calf)

Ellington has been turning back the clock this season and has started for the Pacers, so that's another big blow after going 0-3 (albeit against top competition) last week after CJ went down. They lose a non-factor and get back a non-factor as well for a wash, but this week's schedule is a little easier, and you can never count a team with Luka out.
LA Clippers OG Anunoby (Calf), Jaylen Brown (Knee), Victor Oladipo (Quad)

The Clips got clipped hard for this week, losing Brown and Oladipo, but luckily wing is probably the most flexible position to fill and the Clips have good depth. They get back a couple of rookies who have barely seen the court. Luckily, they have just 3 games and 2 are against bottom-feeders so they should be fine.
LA Lakers Kostas Antetokounmpo (Knee), Elijah Hughes (Ankle), James Wiseman (Wrist)

The Lakers have been a bit of a shock, being at a cool .500 early in the season with a surprisingly okay roster, but they'll be missing ROTW James Wiseman for this pretty tough week and maybe beyond with a sprained wrist. Nothing too serious though.
Memphis Grizzlies Al-Farouq Aminu (Knee), Karl-Anthony Towns (Wrist), Terrance Ferguson (Personal), Marcus Smart (Calf), Killian Tillie (Foot), Sean McDermott (Shoulder), Grayson Allen (Illness)

MEM is absolutely torn to shreds at the moment, with KAT still out and now they're down defensive wizard Marcus Smart, Grayson Allen, and others, in exchange for rookie Deni Avdija. It's tough sledding after they went aggressive in the market this offseason, but it will come around eventually.
Miami Heat Ty Jerome (Ankle)

The Heat, who are awesome in every way, get back Iggy the Koopaling (hope you get the reference) this week, so they'll basically be at full strength. Not much else to say, they've been p healthy so far.
Milwaukee Bucks Killian Hayes (Hip), Romeo Langford (Wrist), Jusuf Nurkic (Wrist), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Knee), Onyeka Okongwu (Achilles), Trae Young (Calf), Nassir Little (Knee)

The Bucks get roflstomped by the bug this week, as in addition to their previous outs, they're now missing Shai, Trae, Na, and Double O 17 (Okongwu's number). They still have Giannis, but a ton of talent is gone this week, and I feel their unbeaten record will not stand much longer, with a matchup against Brooklyn this week.
Minnesota Timberwolves Kevin Love (Calf), Avery Bradley (Illness), Maurice Harkless (Thigh), Larry Nance Jr. (Wrist)

The Wolves get back a rookie but lose Nance Jr, but to be honest the real treat for them is that every week is a week closer to the lottery. As long as none of their guys suffer any major long-term injuries, there probably isnt' a ton of concern week-to-week about injuries.
New Orleans Pelicans Jarrett Culver (Ankle)

No changes for New Orleans, who have just 3 games this week. 2 of those are potential wins so they could sniff .500!
New York Knicks Mike Scott (Knee)

The Knicks get a ton of reinforcements this week, with Hernangomez, Dragic, and most importantly Mitchell. They're p much back to full strength now, and face some good teams this week, so this boon came just in time for them and their newfound contention aspirations.
Oklahoma City Thunder Marquese Chriss (Leg)

The Thunder get Jontay Porter back! Wheeeeee. You may return to your regularly scheduled activities, nothing to see here.
Orlando Magic Nicolas Claxton (Knee), Thomas Bryant (Knee), Patrick Beverley (Knee)

The Magic get back Derrick White, one of their better players, but unfortunately their week is pretty tough so they may go another week searching for that first win. Hang in there guys!
Philadelphia 76ers Derrick Rose (Rest), Damian Lillard (Abdominal), Rudy Gay (Hip)

Really tough week for one of the two remaining undefeated teams, as they're missing 3 crucial pieces, none more important than Dame. They are still a cut above the teams they play this week, but they are still good teams so it'll be interesting to see how much of an impact these injuries have.
Phoenix Suns Michael Carter-Williams (Foot)

The Suns dodged a bullet with KD, as the day after injuries he was pulled from the game for Covid protocols and might not be back in time for week 4, but for now the Suns finally get a look at their A-lineup with Jimmy back as well. They did well to make it to 4-3 without those guys, now it's time to see what this team is really capable of.
Portland Trail Blazers Anzejs Pasecniks (Waived in NBA), DeÁndre Hunter (Knee), Derrick Jones Jr. (Foot)

The Blazers get back breakout sensation Naaaaaaz Reid this week, but lose Hunter and Jones Jr, 2 important pieces. They have a couple of easy games and a couple of not so easy games but they should be able to improve on that 1-6 record.
San Antonio Spurs The Spurs are completely healthy, getting back AD this week! Hopefully the time off has cleared his head, because the Spurs have scuffled with and without him and desperately need him to get back on track.
Sacramento Kings Trevor Ariza (Personal), Kevon Looney (Ankle)

The Kangs traded Roco and get back ish smith, but lose Kevon Looney for likely multiple weeks. Poor guy can't stay on the court. Much like the t-wolves and magic though, the kings are counting the days till the lottery, so these injuries ultimately don't matter much if at all.
Toronto Raptors Cameron Payne (Foot), Jordan Bell (Waived in NBA), LaMarcus Aldridge (Hip)

LA going down is crucial because the Raps are going up against a couple of powerhouses this week and need all the help they can get. No imminent news on Bell getting a contract elsewhere at this point. The Raps are pretty deep though, and have Bradley Beal, so maybe they can tread water till LA comes back.
Utah Jazz Markelle Fultz (Knee), Justise Winslow (Hip)

The Jazz get back some dude and Devin Booker! They need him because they have greatly underperformed thus far. They have an alright week 3, so maybe they can start to right the ship now that Book is Back.
Washington Wizards Dario Saric (Illness), Jared Dudley (Calf), Ben Simmons (Calf)

The Wiz went out of the box to start the season by putting Simmons at PF and for the most part, it's yielded positive results. This week however is gonna have to be the Kyrie show, we'll see how hard he can carry this team on his back.
