Cleveland Has A New GM

It was an up and down year for the Cavs. A 22-50 record with an 0-10 finish was far from ideal. The team said goodbye to its promising big man only to welcome an established superstar at the position. The season may not have matched the hopes of the organization but this team is not as far away from playoff contention as the 22-50 record might suggest. With some retooling, look for the Cleveland Cavaliers to compete in 2021.

Building a championship caliber team is no easy task, but it is never a bad start to have stars like Karl-Anthony Towns and Collin Sexton to build around. KAT is as good as any big man in the league and Sexton is on the cusp of becoming a prolific scorer. Those two will be a blast to follow this upcoming season. I’m also impressed with the young talent on this team and am excited to learn more about each guy. The Cavs are not lacking in youth with an average age of the 23.2 years old. Marcus Smart is the elder of the bunch at 27 and should assume the role of a strong, veteran presence in the locker room. Kyle Kuzma should offer a similar prowess as he is another experienced player entering his fifth season in the league.

I’m big into stats and analytics so I plan to incorporate this approach into my decisions as a GM. I’d like to see what we have with our young guys, but will entertain the idea of adding some more firepower to complement our dynamic duo. I’m eagerly awaiting Free Agency and the Draft for the opportunity to reinforce the structure to this team. I’m excited to be a part of this league and look forward to competing for a championship. Go Cavs!
