Knicks plan offseason moves

The New York Knicks did it, they beat the Atlanta Hawks, and then the

Boston Celtics to make their way into the 2021 NLL Playoffs. The

Knicks went up against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks. That

went about as good as you thought it would go. The Bucks would go on

to sweep the Knicks bouncing them out of the playoffs as fast as they

took to get into the playoffs. But the Knicks made it tough, making

comebacks in nearly every game, but the Bucks were just too much.

Giannis Antetokoumpo was unable to be stopped, the Knicks had no

answer for him on defense. Antetokoumpo ended the series scoring 28.5

points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 3.3 blocks per

game. Trey Young also was a big factor the the Bucks adding 31 points,

3.3 rebounds, 10.5 assists, and 1 steal per game.

The Knicks made a close game of game three, losing by just four

points. But the rest of the games were just too tough to catch up and

close out. Even when the Knicks got close to the Bucks, the Bucks

would just go on a scoring streak and stop the Knicks from scoring at

all. D'Angelo Russell was the Knicks top performer in this years

playoffs. Russell averaged 26 points, 2.8 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and

1.4 steals per game. Julius Randle averaged 19.4 points, 11.4

rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals for the Knicks. The Knicks

primary scoring guard Donovan Mitchell only averaged 17.8 points per

game. Mitchell added 1.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists but was viewed as a

player that didnt show up during the playoffs.

So what do the Knicks do now that they were bounced from the playoffs.

Well the Knicks only have a few guys on the roster. Donovan Mitchell,

Jeffries. The first thing the Knicks need to do is secure Julius

Randle. Randle could make up to 19.8 million next season but only 4

million of that is guaranteed. The Knicks and Randle plan to meet up

and see if they can come to an agreement for an extension. After that

the Knicks plan to try and resign Kelly Olynyk, and possibly Torrey

Craig. Although both players didnt do much in the playoffs, GM Darko

is a fan of both of these players and if he can get them to stick

around all the better.

One final note is that the Knicks have a very long shot of getting a

top four pick in this years draft if the Boston Celtics pick lands in

the top four picks. But with a 0.5% chance at that happening, the

Knicks are more likely to be struck by lightening or win the power

ball. So Im saying theres a chance, but the odds are like a million to

one. This off season should be interesting for all teams involved,

lets see what the Knicks can do to improve their roster for next

seasons playoff run.
