Can we start talking the P word ?
A mixed bag week out
in Memphis in week 12. They lost their first 2 games of the week, which was
their 3rd loss in a row. A really tough beat against the hawks on
the road had fans a little nervous, were the wheels starting to wobble. Was all
the negative energy coming from other salty GM’s starting to erode away the
foundations that GM Dunne is building this franchise one.
Luckily, the ship was
steadied with 2 really impressive wins to close out the week. The Grizz remain
solid in 5th spot 6 games above .500. The battle in the west is starting
to heat up. The Grizz are 7.5 games clear in the playoffs, but another couple
of dodgy weeks could see all of that change. However, with some big injuries to
the Timberwolves, perhaps there is the chance to move up too. Only time will
tell.
The push for 4th
place and beyond is being helped greatly by the acquisitions of Caris LeVert
and Jahlil Okafor. Both had great first weeks at the ball club. Jahlil came off
the bench for 18 & 8 and was pivotal in the big two wins. Caris had one
monster game where he dropped 7 threes and 11 dimes. He averaged 14 points 5
rebounds and 11 3’s for the week. Both very encouraging performances.
Tatum’s usage took a
big hit this week, and that may just be trying to gel with his new team mates, however
he averaged 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, showing his worth and maturity
far out strips just scoring.
Big Papa had another
enormous week. However was snubbed again in the POTW. If we are going off the
NLL stats he is player of the week. If we are going off what happens in the NBA
then we may as well play a yahoo fantasy league. If the league isn’t taking the
award seriously then lets scrap the whole thing. Papa was then heard rapping
his favourite line from Hova. “Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t”
