Frankie Smokes made a real splash as he was inserted into the starting line-up for the first time in his short NLL Career.

Frank Ntilikina, the second youngest player in the NLL and the Grizzlies 11th pick in what is turning out to be maybe the best draft in the history of the league, averaged 14 points and 10 assists in his 5 games this week to go along with 1.6 steals and over 1 3 pointer per game.

Pronounced Nil-e-kina, the French teenager is making a splash. His partnership with Tyus Jones, who himself is only 21 are making quite the stir as possible the most unheralded PG partnership in the league. Without Dante Exum, for possibly the entire season, these 2 are the future and the now of the Grizz. While mistakes will happen and L’s will happen, they are exciting and that is something Memphis hasn’t had fans in a long time.

We spoke briefly with Grizz GM Jesse Dunne. ‘Hopefully Frankie can be our second ROTW in a row after Tatum took the award out last week. With Marquese Chriss playing really well at centre, we are so excited with the core we have. We had a tough week this week with only 1 win. However, we fought hard and were competitive and these are all great signs for the future’

In other news, Taj Gibson trade rumours continue to swirl around. Is he on the move? We were unable to get a comment out of the ball club; however, it would make sense. He is putting up great numbers off the bench and would be an asset for any contending team. Also, Georgios Papagiannis received another DNP-CD this week and has still yet to see a minute of the NLL season. It is a fall from grace for last season’s rookie sensation. Coach Fizdale commented on the 7’2 Greek Teenager. “He has plenty to work on to get his way back into the rotation. We have full faith in him and when we bring him back it will be when he is ready to contribute. He is a part of our future, he knows that”
