Sindarius Thornwell

Pick 39, The Portland Trailblazers final pick of the 2016 draft. With that pick the Blazers select the 6’5”, 214 lbs shooting guard out of South Carolina, Sindariius Thornwell.

Sindarius Thornwell played four years at South Carolina and finished his college career being named SEC player of the year and leading his team to their first final in the schools long history. He will leave South Carolina ranking top ten in the schools history in total points, rebounds and assists. Leaving a legacy as one of the schools greats.

Thornwell has an array of skills that could definitely translate into the big leagues. He has the range, shooting 39% his senior year and 34% for his college career. But Thornwells biggest and best trait comes on the defensive end. He is a more than capable defender and his size and length allow him to guard multiple positions. He has that underdog mentality and plays with a chip on his shoulder, which i something that can't be taught, but something that coaches love and something that will get him on the court.

Thornwell created 2.5 steals per 40 minutes and1.1 blocks per 40 minutes also. He is more than willing to thrown his body around and was more than competent when guarding power forwards. Sindarius does what needs doing, whether that be making the extra pass or grabbing his 5.4 defensive and 2.9 offensive rebounds per 40 minutes.

Although he doesn't possess and freakishly athletic abilities, he does use his size, strength, high basketball IQ and determination to make up for it.

There is on doubt that he can prosper into a nice cold player for any team. He has all the tools and attitude to become a perfect ‘3 and D’ guy for any franchise. Lets hope the Portland franchise realises that and hold onto him. Because every team needs at least one of those guys!
