That’s the LMA I know!

"That’s the LMA I know!"

That was what C.J. McCollum, a former NLL Jazz, tweeted about the starting power forward for the NLL Jazz during  the San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets NBA Series that ended in a James Harden full-on meltdown and an explosion by LaMarcus Aldridge going for 34 points for a Spurs side that was without several keys pieces in this one.

This is something many fans of the Utah Jazz have said this season, especially after the sudden resurgence of the big man for the NLL and the importance of the stretch four to the new engine, LMA should be dominating!

Well, this season he didn’t and that’s a fact, but as we can all see, he’s still capable of doing that, in either side of the basketball universe!

There are some points that must be analyzed, for sure, when you dig deeper into his sudden dip in production.

The thing for LMA is that the expectations are sky-high for a player of his talent and offensive potential, based on his time with the NBA Portland and NLL Sixers. The catch here is that LMA had the green light from everywhere on the floor in Portland AND was the focal point of the offense in a pre-Damian Lillard world. As Lillard grew his game and LMA wanted a chance for a ring while he still got “it” going to the NBA Spurs, the parameters changed. LMA is no longer the focal point of the offense, Kawhi is, and should be, but LMA is also asked to do more stuff on the Spurs, he’s challenged to be a more complete player, thoughtful of defensive schemes and complex rotations that only exist in a Popovichean World, which is awesome, because they still win, but from an NLL ratings point of view, Jazz fans would love it if he still was an unhinged, freed machine of jacking up shots! Lol

LMA is a human basketball player of course, with objectives that go beyond what my fantasy aspirations are.

We’re glad to have him around and we hope to see more of the LMA we know as well.

See you next time!
