End of the Silly Season!

As the trade deadline came and went on Thursday, there were some monster trades that went through. The Grizzlies, however, had done all their dealings throughout the season and only had one aim on the deadline. Move Donte Montejunas for more access to the draft.

This eventually happened. First off, Montejunas was moved to the Brooklyn Nets for 15 GM points. Then, at 5:29pm NLL time, on the stroke of the deadline, those GM Points were sent on to Boston for a Phoenix Second round pick (2019). As Donte Montejunas was taken from Free Agency earlier in the year, moving him on for another draft pick in the stock pile is a decent result. He had an expiring contract and was not going to be with the Grizz next season. All and all not a bad result.

There were rumours swirling about a few other pieces to be moved, such as Brewer and CJ Watson. But none of these eventuated. Now the deadline has passed and The Grizzlies are sitting on a mountain of draft picks and fans can sit back and enjoy the youth grow. The losses are going to come, but enjoy the wins that pop up and the epic performances our 2 big rookies are putting in.

In Draft news, the grizzlies 3 first round picks in the 2017 draft are starting to take shape.

The suns pick is in limbo at the moment, the suns currently sit in the 8th seed. But have a Utah team, who stacked up before the trade deadline, nipping at their heels. If that Suns pick falls into the lottery, that would be the ideal result for GM Dunne.

Brooklyn are stacked, and are climbing the east standings. They pulled off a monster trade on the deadline to move Boogie, but they bought in some great talent at the same time. So they are locked into a playoff seed in the east, projecting that pick in the 20’s. Which in a deep draft will be handy, but won’t pull in the star power at the top of the draft.

Is in our hands. At the moment it would be projected at 3. The Grizz have been fielding their best line up all year and have already won more games than they did last year. After being burnt by the lottery last year, GM Dunne isn’t keen to “Tank”. He wants to give the Grizz fans some enjoyment and run the young guys as hard as possible for the rest of the season.
