Marquese Chriss: Chriss was taken with the 4^th pick in the 2016 NLL Draft. He is an athletic 4 with a nice jump shot. In a young and inexperienced Grizzlies squad he is starting and is playing 35 MPG. He averages nearly a double double with 9.8 PPG and 9.9 RPG to go along with 54% FG shooting 2 and a half assists and 1 block per game. He is a well-rounded presence who can hit the jump shot and will get to the ring. His 2K ranking will continue to rise and this will lead to more exciting dunks and stat lines. He needs to work on his strength in the post both offensively and defensively. The Grizz knew they were drafting a raw athletic project and so far everything is on track for their future stud.

Georgios Papagiannis: Big Papa was taken with the grizzlies other first round pick in the 2016 draft, pick 24. He was taken a lot higher than that in the NBA draft and the Grizz were happy that he fell to them. So far this season he is averaging a very productive 11.5 PPG and 12.2 RPG with 1 steal and 1 block in his 35 minutes. Fantastic numbers from the 19 year old. He actually ranks in the top 10 of the league for Offensive Rebounds and Rebounds. He is a monster on the glass at both ends and blocks shots regularly. He is 7’2 and his length is a huge assets. He, like his partner in crime Chriss needs to work on his work at the defensive end with opposing bigs putting up big numbers against.

Both these rookies don’t have great +/- due to the fact that the Grizzlies have a 2-8 record, however in the 2 wins they have had, both these 19 year olds were instrumental.

Finally, Grizzlies fans are keeping one eye on the Suns and Nets, whose picks we own for the first round of the 2017 draft. Both teams sit at 3-6, 10^th and 12^th in their respective conferences. Do not expect this to last, both teams were touted to make the playoffs and I am sure they will find their groove soon.
