Par For The (Magic) Course?

One week has come by the wayside, and the Orlando Magic are par for the course, so to speak.  The team had it's first week end with a 3-1 record to stay near the top of the ever-so difficult Eastern Conference.  The lone loss came to the perennial power house Philadelphia 76ers.  Wins versus Atlanta, Indiana and Portland did not come easy, to say the least.

This week brings yet another four tough matchups in Charlotte, Brooklyn (twice) and an old Western Conference foe for general manager L J Maverick in Denver.  With injuries still ailing Michael Carter-Williams, the team looks very thin at the point guard position.  They have had to ask for help from swingman Tony Snell to spell some minutes from floor general Ty Lawson at times during these games.  The time table for Carter-Williams' return is said to be another month or longer.  This is a serious issue for the team as they have been rumored to be shopping for point guard help, even going as far as shopping starting point guard Ty Lawson as funny as that sounds.

The thought process is the team needing help immediately and securing future assets along the way.  They figure Lawson along with bigman Amir Johnson give them the best "bang for their buck", as one local reporter suggested.

"This team is exactly what I wanted in a team when I took it over," expressed general manager L J Maverick.  "Other than a bit of tinkering, the team is perfect.  We just need to see where we're at in terms of chemistry.  I don't want to break that mesh.  It is vital to every team's success in this league."

As of today, the phones have been ringing regularly to Maverick's office.  Of course, there was no comment on any rumors.  To date, nothing has come in to these offices concretely.  But, rest assured, L J Maverick is as active as they get in terms of roster moves.  Or will we see a continuance of the L J Maverick of last year and of late?
