Week 4 Injury Watch

TEAM INJURIES
Atlanta Hawks Markelle Fultz (Shoulder), Alexis Ajinca (Knee), Justin Patton (Toe),

The Hawks have been doing fine without Fultz, but it would be nice to see him on the court. The Hawks get Sefolosha back. This will definitely help out with the Hawks bench production.

Brooklyn Nets Jabari Parker (Knee), Cameron Payne (Foot), A.J. Hammons (G-League), Larry Nance Jr. (Hand), Danilo Gallinari (Buttocks),

Gallinari is the return we are watching for. He's definitely the the SF wizkid would prefer to start. The Nets are winning anyways without him. So they are fine. Meanwhile, Jabari Parker looks healthy. The team is being safe and keeping him with his February time table.

Boston Celtics Dorian Finney-Smith (Knee), Shane Larkin (Head), Kevin Durant (Ankle),

Kevin Durant is the big one here. Durant was averaging 31 points a game. Andre Iguodala moves into the starting lineup. I expect an uptick in usage for Lowry and Lopez this week. The Boston bench will lose some fire power with Iggy moving into the starting lineup.

Charlotte Hornets Frank Jackson (Foot), Harry Giles (Knees), Ike Anigbogu (G-League),

No need to rush these guys. Frank is behind Dejounte on the depth chart who isn't even getting minutes. Booker has taken the rotation spot held by Willie Reed last year. So there isn't room in the rotation for any more bigs.

Chicago Bulls Joakim Noah (Suspended), Damian Jones (CD), Nicolas Brussino (CD), Isaiah Taylor (Eye),

All the rotation guys are healthy. No problem here.

Cleveland Cavaliers Milos Teodosic (Foot),

Milos was spotted moving around in a walking boot. There isn't a timetable yet for Milos. He will be out for another couple weeks. The Cavs are doing fine without him, but can push for 1st place when he comes back.

Dallas Mavericks Jonathan Isaac (Ankle), Paul Millsap (Wrist),

Dallas definitely missed Isaac's defense in the starting lineup last week. He's taking shots during warm-ups, but will not be game ready until another week. And now that Millsap is gone, things are going to look a bit worse. Millsap will miss an extended time.

The Mavs didn't do good last week and without Millsap, things could get a bit worse. Will Isaac's return be enough to stop the bleeding? Or will it take a trade to get Dallas back on track again? Smokey is currently offering Noel & Tyler Johnson for an upgrade.

Denver Nuggets Enes Kanter (Back ), Eric Gordon (Calf),

Kanter is out. Denver will be weak at center this week. Eric Gordon is also out, but has been pretty inconsistent this year. I thought this week would of been the week he finally figures it out. Luckily, Norman Powell comes back this week. Rootsey will have to figure the minutes split between Powell and Wade. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Sometimes you have too many of the same position, that it takes an injury or two to figure out that you should move a player. Not that I'm saying Rootsey should move one of his wings, but an injury like this what what it took for me to realize that I had too many bigs and needed to move one last year.

Detroit Pistons Tyler Lydon (G-League), Bruno Caboclo (G-League), Ryan Anderson (Illness),

Detroit loses Ryan Anderson this week, but gains Jared Dudley who is a smaller version of Ryan Anderson with better defense. It'll be like Ryan never left. I think Dudley will fill Ryan's shoes just fine.

Golden State Warriors Jon Leuer (Ankle), Al-Farouq Aminu (Ankle), Nicolas Batum (Elbow),

The Warriors have been on a 7 game losing streak. Leuer & Aminu have been out all season. Batum returned to the lineup last week, but the Warriors still went 0-4. Unluckily he had an elbow contusion near the end of last week. He should be back next week and I think he will be the key to figuring out how to get out of this losing streak. Leuer has no timetable, and Aminu has already gone past his original 2-3 week timetable. It is still unknown as to when these two will come back. Both Leuer & Aminu will bring back a lot of defense to the bench when they come back.

Houston Rockets Isaiah Thomas (Hip), Mindaugas Kuzminskas (Waived in NBA),

The Mavs get Cole Aldrich back this week. The Rockets looked horrible last week with Haslem in the rotation. With the possibility of Aldrich getting these random DNP-CDs, will Houston settle for Haslem as the backup or will they look at adding an upgrade? Meanwhile, teams in the NBA have shown interest in Mindaugas Kuzminskas. Now that Thanksgiving is over and everyone returning back to work this week, maybe a contract gets done.

Indiana Pacers Carrick Felix (Waived in NBA), Sheldon Mac (Achilles), Tony Parker (Quadriceps), Matthew Dellavedova (Knee), Brandan Wright (Groin),

I thought Malik Monk did fine playing point guard in the absence of Tony Parker and Matthew Dellevadova. Dellevadova doesn't have a timetable. Parker will be in an out of the lineup this year due to old age. But I think Sheed already has it figured out. With Brandon Wright out, I think Montrezl Harrell can fill in just fine.

LA Clippers Tristan Thompson (Calf), DAngelo Russell (Knee),

Since Russell got injured, the Clippers have been running Devin Booker as a point guard and it has been working. John Collins & Cody Zeller have been able to fill the void left from the absence of Tristan Thompson. The Clippers don't even need Tristan right now, which is probably why he is on the trade block. Thompson might be out for one more week. Russell has no timetable.

LA Lakers Rodney McGruder (Leg),

All rotation guys are healthy. No problems here.

Memphis Grizzlies Dante Exum (Shoulder), Georgios Papagiannis (CD),

Memphis has been out with Papagiannis all season and has been doing pretty decent playing Faried and Gibson center minutes. But it'll be nice to have the 7 footer in the lineup. If only he was just wanted in the NBA. Exum is out indefinitely. Tyus Jones and Frankie Smokes have been doing just fine without him in the lineup.

Miami Heat Isaiah Canaan (Waived in NBA), Timofey Mozgov (Rest),

Mozgov has been the primary scorer off the bench for the Heat. With the absence of Mozgov, both Biyombo and Powell will get additional minutes. I believe they can do it.

Milwaukee Bucks Zach LaVine (Knee), Iman Shumpert (Knee), CJ Miles (Personal), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Knee),

Badwolf is already offering a 1st round draft pick for help at the SF position because of injuries. Taurean Prince & Thaddeus Young will move into the starting lineup and are both great starters. Prince, Young, and Liggins are the only ones healthy that can play the SF position. Watch and see how Milwaukee works around this issue at SF.

Minnesota Timberwolves Glenn Robinson III (Ankle), Wayne Selden Jr. (Quadriceps), Jeff Teague (Achilles),

Teague is the major blow here. But I remember Minnesota wanted to play McCollum at PG and move Fournier to the SG slot. Will it happen this week and will Minnesota start winning games as a result?

New Orleans Pelicans Khem Birch (G-League), Chinanu Onuaku (G-League), Wesley Iwundu (G-League),

All rotation guys are healthy. No problems here.

New York Knicks Luke Babbitt (Back), Jason Terry (CD),

None of these guys have been getting significant minutes. NY is okay.

Oklahoma City Thunder Nikola Mirotic (Face), Nik Stauskas (Ankle), Draymond Green (Rest), John Henson (Knee),

Draymond and Henson are the big ones here. JaVale McGee will jump into the starting lineup. Juancho Hernangomez and Zhou Qi will get some extra run. Will OKC still be strong enough to hang with San Antonio's two bigs this week?

Orlando Magic Derrick White (Wrist),

All the rotation guys are healthy. No problem here.

Philadelphia 76ers Julyan Stone (Hamstring), Kawhi Leonard (Quadriceps), Mike Muscala (Ankle), Rudy Gobert (Knee),

Last week we saw the Sixers without Gobert. They did fine. Ed Davis & Richaun Holmes were able to do the heavy lifting left by Gobert. But still, the Sixers are still having trouble competing against the Spurs and Celtics, and will continue to do so until both Kawhi and Gobert are back healthy.

Phoenix Suns Davon Reed (Knee), Gordon Hayward (Ankle), Nemanja Bjelica (Foot),

Phoenix is on a win streak. Bjelica has been contributing 7 - 11 points off the bench in each of the wins. With Joel Bolomboy moving into the rotation for Bjelica, can Phoenix continue the win streak?

Portland Trail Blazers Brandon Knight (Knee), Delon Wright (Shoulder), Justin Anderson (Shin), Brice Johnson (CD), Thomas Bryant (CD),

Portland is lacking a ton of depth with these injuries. Portland will be running with essentially a 2 man bench. They have been winning games with Rivers, Yabusele, and Anderson off the bench. But this loss of Anderson for the week could push them into a losing week. But... Anything is possible with Gay.

San Antonio Spurs Alan Williams (Knee), Patrick Beverley (Knee), Mike Conley (Achilles),

This team will look superhuman until the slider changes go into effect in week 5 with AD & Embiid in the frontcourt. It doesn't really matter who's starting at PG for the Spurs. Once the sliders are in effect though, San Antonio will need either Beverley or Conley back. Beverley is lost for the season. Conley will be out for at least 2 more weeks. Will Spurs make a move for another PG?

Sacramento Kings David Nwaba (Ankle), Okaro White (Foot)

Good news for KLEM. Okafor is back. That is just another big for the Kings to abuse with. KLEM is already excited to throw him into the starting lineup and have Gasol dominate off the bench. Don't be fooled by Okafor's low 74 2K rating. Players like him and Brook Lopez are much better in 2K than their NBA counterparts.

Toronto Raptors Solomon Hill (Hamstring), Ivan Rabb (CD),

All rotation guys are healthy. No problems here.

Utah Jazz Derrick Rose (Ankle),

The Jazz did really horrible without a legitimate point guard for the first two weeks of NLL action. Luckily, Merencio got Chris Paul back last week for a 5 game slate and did really good. But how long will Paul stay healthy? When he's not healthy, Rose was the one to take the reigns. Now Rose has left the game, and the next man up is Aaron Brooks. Is Utah okay with this? Or will there be a trade in place for another backup PG?

Washington Wizards Seth Curry (Leg), Joe Johnson (Wrist), Jeremy Lin (Knee), Kyle Singler (CD),

Curry & Johnson will be out for about 2 more weeks. Until then, Darko will have to make due with Dillon Brooks and Frank Mason.
