Week 7 Injury Watch - Happy New Year, NLL!!!

TEAM INJURIES
Atlanta Hawks Malik Beasley (D-League), Chris Paul (Hamstring), Josh McRoberts (Foot), Gerald Henderson (Hip),

CP3 is still down with a hamstring issue, which are always very tricky because of the risk of re-injury of the muscle. He looks like he'll be back soon, and we all know he wants to play. Hendo is also a big out because he's a sneaky good player that is very consistent along his career. McBob has been logging some good games from the bench on limited minutes, so he'll be missed, for sure. Malik is buried on the depth charts of both sides of the multi-verse, I like him though.
Brooklyn Nets Khris Middleton (Hamstring), Dion Waiters (Groin), Goran Dragic (Back),

Khris has had a very unfortunate and rare injury early in the season and seems to be progressing really well according to reports. Once seemingly out for the season, Middleton wants to play this year. Dion supposedly came in to be Khris' replacement, but is also battling an injury for a while. Newcomer Dragic was coming off the bench for the Nets, and now has hurt his back, so he'll be watching from the sidelines. Three important outs for the Nets, but they have the depth to cover for it, I think.
Boston Celtics Derrick Jones Jr. (CD),

Low-impact absence for the Celts, in Jones Jr, as the young prospect bounces back and forth from the D-League. He isn't a part of the Celtics puzzle, so we just move along.
Charlotte Hornets Christian Wood (D-League), Aaron Harrison (D-League),

Two long-shot prospects for the Hornets as they ooze of young talent. Wood and Harrison go to the D-League to beat up on guys like Baron Davis, lol.
Chicago Bulls Chris McCullough (CD), Marco Belinelli (Ankle),

Belinelli is out this week and he is in the trade rumors, according to his GM, so he'll not be able to showcase his talents to respective buyers this time. Chris is at the end of the bench and will miss some time too, but he's healthy though.
Cleveland Cavaliers Rakeem Christmas (CD),

The young rebounder has bounced around quite a bit in his young NLL career, and right now it seems the Cleveland coaching staff will give him a week's rest to watch and learn in his suit.
Dallas Mavericks Jerryd Bayless (Wrist), Paul Zipser (D-League), Ivica Zubac (D-League),

No major outs for the Mavs this week, as Bayless was already out for the season when he was acquired from Detroit in the Jrue Holiday trade. Zipser and Zubac will Zo zack to the Z-league.
Denver Nuggets Troy Williams (D-League),

Troy is also a lower impact player that wasn't probably going to  play even if he were active, so he's gone to the D-League to continue to hone his skills.
Detroit Pistons Brandan Wright (Ankle), Ben Simmons (Foot), Bradley Beal (Ankle), Ron Baker (D-League), Diamond Stone (CD),

Brandan seemingly has been out forever, though he is a helpful big. Ben Simmons is hoping he can play again this year, but the Pistons are being extremmely cautious with his return. Beal rolled his ankle and is set to miss time yet again, though his MRI came back negative, which is a good thing. Diamond Stone has such a great name, and Ron Baker's name looks like he is 85 years old.
Golden State Warriors Quincy Pondexter (Knee), Jose Barea (Calf), Demetrius Jackson (D-League), Rodney Stuckey (Hamstring),

JJ Barea and Stuckey are the absences with some impact for a team that really makes you work for it, every single game. The fact that they both play PG/SG if needed, leaves the Warriors a bit short handed, but they'll just keep on going without them. Pondexter has been injured for what seems like 3 years now and Jackson is playing in the D-League to hone his skills for the big show.
Houston Rockets Bryn Forbes (D-League), Arron Afflalo (Elbow),

Afflalo is a big out here, as the Rockets cannot afford to miss any healthy bodies if they want to come out of this rut they've been in lately, Forbes is a guy the Spurs are seemingly grooming for the future, as they like him enough to give him a contract and keep him with the team with little playing time. He'll go to the Austin Spurs for a while.
Indiana Pacers Blake Griffin (Knee), Marshall Plumlee (D-League), Reggie Williams (CD), Matthew Dellavedova (Hamstring),

Big bad Blake is out for a while and that is never good. Another noteworthy player is newly acquired Dellavedova will not be around to man the PG spot. Reggie and Marshall are non-impactful players, so they won't be missed as much.
LA Clippers Festus Ezeli (Knee), Alec Burks (Ankle), Joel Bolomboy (CD), Clint Capela (Leg),

Ezeli had a setback in his recovery and now could miss the entire season due to a knee injury, Burks is finally coming around and coming back from his injury, Burks is out to prove the doubters wrong and give hope to his believers once again. Capela is going to miss at least another month while he heals from his injury, so the Clippers will be without three key pieces.
LA Lakers Jonathan Gibson (Waived in NBA),

Gibson was waived, but he was a 15th man type player anyway. The big plus here is that we don't see George Hill on this list anymore, and that is cause for celebration for this Lakers team that was threatening a major roster shake-up just this week!
Memphis Grizzlies Chris Bosh (Blood Clots), Michael Gbinije (CD), Donatas Motiejunas (CD), Rashad Vaughn (Ankle), Dante Exum (Knee),

Bosh is still out until the NBA Heat or the new CBA provision frees him to play. Newcomers Montiejunas and Vaughn are also out, except D-Mo is a healthy scratch. I don't really know who Gbinije really is, sorry. Exum rounds out the list, but this is potentially a big one. He came in extremely hyped, and was supposed to be one of the cornerstones of this franchise. Recurring knee issues are not a good sign, but he still has a long way to go in his development. Get well soon, young fella.
Miami Heat Anthony Brown (Waived in NBA), Rudy Gay (Hip), JR Smith (Thumb),

Two major outs for the Miami Heat, in Gay and JR. these two guys are the core at the wing for this Heat team and while JR will miss some serious time, Gay was seemingly out for just a little while, but ended up missing some real time as he is gone for a while and is still questionable for the next week. Brown is ok as a prospect but doesn't really matter since he was waived. Trades coming in Miami?
Milwaukee Bucks Cameron Payne (Foot), Deyonta Davis (Foot), Taurean Prince (D-League),

Rookies, rookies and Cameron Payne, are out this week, but none of them are major pieces of the puzzle. Davis has had a foot problem for a while now, and big man with fascia issues are a major red flag. Payne seems to be coming back now and Taurean Prince has an identical clone playing meaning minutes, in Demarre Carroll.
Minnesota Timberwolves R.J. Hunter (D-League), Richaun Holmes (Concussion), Jeremy Lin (Hamstring), Avery Bradley (Illness), Ryan Kelly (Personal), Chinanu Onuaku (D-League),

Lin will be sorely missed as the T-Wolves don't have the best second unit and Lin is a big part of what they do. Hamstrings are very tricky, can't force the issue  with those things. Bradley is the starter at the 2, and he will be out for a week with an illness. Chinanu closes the list of major outs, as he made headlines this week about his underhanded shooting motion and we won't get to see if he shoots like that in 2k or not, lol.
New Orleans Pelicans Jared Sullinger (Foot), Jahlil Okafor (Hamstring),

Big outs, Big men out, Big Macs, Jared Sullinger!! lol
Well, Sully is out for a while now, but might be back come playoff time. Jah is the bigger name, the teams' starting Center, who is featured in the New Orleans offense, due to his ability to score. They'll sorely miss him. Time for the rookie Hammons to step up and repay the confidence the GM has in him.
New York Knicks Maurice Ndour (CD), Joe Harris (Hip),

Nothing major for the Knicks this time around as big Dwight and Irving are both back to mess around with people once again in Gotham. We have, however, a "real" Knick on the shelf here in Ndour, and owning those guys is always fun. Curiously, they have Harris which is another player that plays nearby in the NBA, but on the rival.
Oklahoma City Thunder Walter Tavares (Waived in NBA), Evan Fournier (Shin), Patrick McCaw (Illness),

Fournier is the big absence here, as he is the spark off the bench for them, and has been doing a great job at that for the Oklahoma City Nenjabins. Tavares was waived, but his GM is still faithfully holding onto him in the hopes he signs somewhere else, due to his size and... more size?
GM favorite Patrick McCaw is out for a little bit, but he wan't playing too much anyway.
Orlando Magic Magic are locked and loaded, no injuries so we should see all this team can do going forward!
Philadelphia 76ers Danuel House (CD), Damian Lillard (Ankle), Kawhi Leonard (Illness),

Two BIG outs for Philly this week, as Kawhi and Damian are out with injuries that should, in theory, only sideline them about a week here in NLL. We'll get to see that 76ers depth put into use this week as newcomers Deron and Bojan draw the start in their place.
Phoenix Suns Nothing to see here, the Sun is shining bright in Arizona! Is Monta leaving or not, after all?
Portland Trail Blazers Brice Johnson (Back), Ian Mahinmi (Knee), Larry Nance Jr. (Knee),

Portland has some middling guys out, Nance is the noteworthy name, because he was starting for them. Mahinmi could also help them be competitive, since they don't own their first. Brice is still raw, so he's gotta wait his turn to shine.
San Antonio Spurs Delon Wright (Shoulder), Andrew Bogut (Rest), Courtney Lee (Wrist), Mike Conley (Toe),

Three starting level players for the Spurs as they will be short handed this week, but if you look closer, as long as they find an emergency backup PG, his squad still looks pretty good. So I don't expect them to drop off too much. Spurs are rolling!
Sacramento Kings Reggie Bullock (Knee),

Reggie is still a couple weeks from returning, according to rotoworld, but knee injuries are tricky, though meniscus injuries aren't as carrer threatening as they once were, so he should be just fine.
Toronto Raptors Tiago Splitter (Hamstring),

Tiago is still dealing with hamstring issues, and the young rebuilding Raptors could use his veteran leadership, oooor use him as trade bait once he is healthy. One of them has a good chance of happening.
Utah Jazz Victor Oladipo (Wrist), Jordan Mickey (CD), Sergio Rodriguez (Ankle),

While Mickey is swatting shots left and right in the D-League, Oladipo came back from his wrist injury in the NBA just one day after the cut-off date, so he will miss 4 more games in the NLL for the Jazz. He looked good in his first game back, though. Newcomer Sergio "El Cacho" Rodriguez rolled his ankle during the week, but it didn't look so serious, so he should be back next week. Newly signed Pierre "Pappy Gawd"Jackson is gonna be thrown into the fire right away to cover for the Spaniard.
Washington Wizards John Lucas (CD), Marcus Morris (Knee), Anderson Varejao (CD),

What? John Lucas is still playing?? Guess you just gotta keep taking that 1 million minimum salary, right? Cash it in, brother!
The big names missing here are Morris and VAREJÃO, it's in caps so people know how to spell/say his name right. It's not Verejao, not Verajao, not Vareajo, it's Varejão! lol
Now that's over with, we can talk about how the Wizard will miss Morris'verstility on the wing and how Varejão, who was starting for them will be sorely missed on the boards and defending the paint.
