Movement Galore

Movement Galore

Another week, another multi player deal for Wolves GM Joshua.

Sam Dekker was moved on for a second round pick to make some cap space for the long awaited return of Emeka Okafor, last seen in the NLL on the Denver Nuggets roster in 2014. This has been a long time coming and has landed in the perfect spot where, due to the injuries, Okafor is likely to see significant playing time.

Evan Fournier was moved on after only being on the roster for 12 months, leading many to wonder if the GM change had something to do the Timberwolves giving up on player on a solid contract and a knack for putting the ball in the basket. The return for such a player was Norman Powell, Emmanuel Mudiay, Alex Abrines and a future second and first round pick from Boston and Brooklyn respectively.

Powell looks to be put in the role of 6th man as well as spot starter and brings athleticism  and shooting to the small forward/shooting guard spot, a combo that they haven’t yet had under Joshua’s leadership.

Mudiay, a top 4 selection in the 2015 draft brings an exciting blend of athleticism, passing vision and potential to the point guard position that has the fans salivating. “Mudiay may not have lived up to his lofty draft position yet but we believe in him and think in this environment in Minnesota, its the perfect place for
Emmanuel to blossom into a star” GM Joshua said at the introductory press conference earlier in the week.

Alex Abrines is another young shooter in the mould of the recently departed Fournier. Athletic enough and a developing stroke mixed in with good height at 6’6 and excellent basketball smarts, Abrines gives the coach another interesting weapon off the bench.

Gm Joshua and the fans are excited to see how coach Thibs will utilise and integrate the new players into the side but with all star break approaching he will have some time to catch everyone up to speed.

Until next time Wolves fan, Au revoir
