The Kawhi Konundrum

01-27-2018

PHILADELPHIA- Kawhi Leonard has been a hot topic lately in the NLL world, but not for his awesome play. In fact, the forward hasn’t set foot on the court for a few weeks and may not again this season when the team announced that he was being shut down “indefinitely” yet again due to a nagging quad injury. Immediately, rumors leaked that Leonard was unhappy with the Sixers and wanted to play for a different team.

Although GM VT said the reports are false and that there is no discord between the Sixers and Leonard’s camp, the Inquirer broke news that the Sixers are actively seeking a new home for their star player.

“Oh, it’s true,” said analyst Jalen Rose. “Half of the league has made offers to VT and he is seriously considering some of them.”

Rose even had some examples of offers the Sixers received.

“All kinds of names have been bandied about,” Rose said. “Serge Ibaka, John Wall, Otto Porter, you name it. I think a lot of GMs smell blood in the water and they’re really low-balling.”

According to Rose, the worst offer came from another struggling team.

“The Raptors offered Jae Crowder, Tyson Chandler and a first rounder,” Rose laughed. “Dag! That’s pretty bad.”

Two rumors keep coming up that won’t seem to go away. First, we hear reports that Sixers were engaged in some serious talks with the Thunder in a deal that would send Paul George, John Henson and Denzel Valentine to the Sixers for Leonard, Aron Baynes and Pascal Siakam. A first round pick was also reportedly offered as well. Sources close to VT said the GM is still considering the offer, but that he has cooled on it.

Finally, it has been reported that another offer has come in, one that VT is seriously considering. Little is known other than it includes ond of the GM’s favorite players and a pick.

Of course, there is a chance Kawhi will stay in Philly, especially if the Sixers are writing this season off.
