Cometh The Man, Cometh The Hour

NBA contracts, a speculative business that can easily be put to bed by one person and one person only but almost never are until seasons end. This is the case for the Minnesota Timberwolves and their beloved Demarcus Cousins. Cousins has been tight lipped about his future with the side and contract in general, avoiding all questions in regards to the matter. Cousins has carried his team through the rough stretches that can appear in a 48 minute game of basketball, spinning around defenders like a ballet dance then powering up and over defenders like they aren’t even there. This is what the Timberwolves have been delighted to see night in and night out and now they are beginning to do their bit to keep Demarcus around. The local council has begun erecting billboards at every main highway, schools are hosting “wear your cousins jerseys to school day”, local nightclubs have been throwing “boogie like cousins” themed nights and the like. At almost every home game when the stadium goes quiet you can hear the chants of “Boooo-gieee, don’t go” which usually brings a smile to the big mans face. On court Cousins has been posting MVP like stats with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while off the court he has been saying all the right things in regards to his love of the fans and the city itself but they all mean nothing if he doesn’t put pen to paper. When quizzed teammate Kevin Love has said he would love nothing more than to be continuing pairing with who he described as his ‘brother’ down in the post. “Cuz is more than a teammate, he was a groomsmen at my wedding, the god parent of my first born. Id want him here for many years to come” Love was heard saying in a media conference earlier in the day. Will “Cuz” leave the land of a thousand lakes to pursue other pastures? Who knows but this town isn’t going to let their saviour go without a fight!
