one down week?
Week three rolled around and the Mavericks were on a high from the previous two weeks of the season. Some tough matchups this week against the Pacers, Thunder, Bucks and the up and coming Clippers, but the players were confident they could come away with another winning record.
The week started well with another great team performance against the Pacers with a 95-80 win. This was as good as it got though for the Mavericks this week, with the promising start to the season turning around into three consecutive losses in the blink of an eye.
The Clippers, Bucks and the Thunder handed the Mavericks losses that they would want to forget about very quickly. Double figure losses in each game and the team is now back with the pack in the standings. “We didn’t show up. We didn’t play to the plan and the team rules. And most importantly we didn’t play the defence that we want to play throughout every game. Quite frankly we looked lazy out there.” Rick Carlisle said.
One reporter was quickly shut down by rick Carlisle when asked if his young team was already getting tired from the gruelling NLL schedule. “Are you tired?” Carlisle asked. “You probably have a gruelling schedule too, but do I hear you sitting here saying that your tired and you can’t do your job?.”
To add salt to the wound of a few losses, the ever reliable Paul Millsap will be missing indefinitely after scans revealed that wrist surgery will be required. “It is not great news for us, the injuries seem to be adding up, but we will move forward and we will still have everything in place to be able to perform night in and night out.” Carlisle said.
