Week 2 Review & Week 3 Preview

Well it’s tough to know exactly what happened week two, specifically after going three and one in the opening week of season, to go zero and four in week two is suffice it to say, frustrating!!

Frustrating for the GM, the fans, team owners and basically anyone involved in the running of the club. To say team morale was down would be an understatement

Following on from the disastrous week 2 fans remain divided on the current GM and the inconsistencies that are associated with the Clippers franchise

Some of the media quotes both for and against the running of the club after the tumultuous week two

RealGM –

“This guy has had long enough, four season of losing is too long. Horrible GM! Hire Hinkie instead, Billy King might be better!!

RealGM –

“I love the potential but at the end of the day, that doesn’t get you wins!

Fansided –

“During this guy’s tenure he has dumped Hassan Whiteside, Dirk Nowitzki, Mike Conley, Taj Gibson, Harrison Barnes, Dario Saric and we are left with the current squabble of prepubescent crotch sniffing bench fodder. I’m done with this guy!”

Charles Barkley –

“Winless week 2…….Tuuuuuuurible….”

RealGM –

“Most supported a rebuild now it’s happened, you can take being inconsistent SMH”

Fansided –

“I love this team and where their headed being inconsistent is a part of the process”

Twitter –

“I love hate love hate love hate love hate love hate this team it makes me so happy sad happy sad happy sad happy sad happy sad.”

When asked in a recent interview about the division amongst fans and the performance over the last 11 games GM Andrew had this to say.

“Last year was clearly a down year for us here at the Los Angeles Clippers but it was a year geared towards growing the franchise, to go from a season of re-building to a team in transition attempting to win games isn’t an easy task.

We won grand total of 17 games in 2016/17. After 2 ¾ weeks in 2017/18 we have 6 wins from 11 games. If we can show that the dreadful 0 win showing in week 2 was just an anomaly on the season we feel good about where we are at.”

Week 3 Injuries / Assignments

·        DAngelo Russell

·        Tristan Thompson

And here we have it the brutal schedule for week three with the real story here being which version of LA shows up? The Clippers from week 1 or the Clippers from week 2?

Two vastly different team performances only this time minus team starting point guard DAngelo Russell who will be on the sidelines for what could be another three or four weeks (maybe longer)

The decision to play Devin Booker at point guard wasn’t taken lightly and with both Dennis Smith Jr and Tyler Ulis on the bench was met with some level of doubt.

This isn’t a new role for Devin or Rodney for that matter we know their chemistry is strong and will no doubt feed off of each other.

·        Game 2 – Washington Wizards

·        Game 3 – Oklahoma City Thunder
