Warming up in Atlanta

It's been an exciting first 2 weeks for the club in Atlanta. The team has orchestrated yet another trade, this time sending out Ryan Anderson and Jared Dudley for sharpshooter Allen Crabbe and big man Darrell Arthur. The 2 additions have made an immediate impact in the starting unit, which led to a 2-0 start for week 2.

The big news that is really getting the front office excited is the return of Greg Monroe. He will be making his NLL debut in week 3 and will help out Sabonis (who has been phenomenal to start the season). The coaching staff has many questions to answer thanks to the play of Arthur. Will Arthur be relegated to the bench? Will Monroe start out on the bench and help bolster the 2nd unit? This is a good problem to have as a coaching staff and we are excited to see what happens this week with a 5 game week.

There has been improvements made from week 1 to week 2. This can be seen by the records between the weeks (1-3 to 2-2). The team laments losing a few close games at the end of the 4th quarter that they'd love to have back but that's basketball and we are moving forward and making adjustments as necessary.

The coaching staff and front office can't say enough good things about Domantas Sabonis. He was thrust into the starting lineup at center and has never looked back. He's averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds and shooting over 50% from the field. He's fallen into foul trouble but that is due to the large amount of minutes he was forced to play with Monroe being out. If the team starts winning and he continues his level of play, the front office will start campaigning for him to get some weekly honors and some MVP love.

Markelle Fultz is still in rehab for his shoulder but the team hopes to have him back soon and at full health and with his old shooting form back. He will provide major relief for Holiday and Crabbe and we are excited to see this team nearing full health and full potential.

All in all, things are looking up in Atlanta and the organization is excited to see what the next few weeks hold!
