Flame On!
Flame on!
The
Miami Heat have burst into the NLL season with a 3-1 record. The party train
doesn’t start after 4 games. It’s a marathon. But after solid performances the
Miami Heat have already become one of the talking points of the league as they
look to chase their own fate within a competitive NLL season. A sturdy starting
5 and multiple contributors on the bench in rotational roles and as a
supporting cast have created some wonderful streaks on the court that can only
get better with time.
This positive start was made all the more special due to the caliber of the
opposition with two previous playoff teams being beaten during the 3 game streak
that was sadly ended by a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
GM Breece has told fans ‘that the best is yet to come from our squad’, while
reassuring them of a continued and consistent approach to each game. This
step-by-step process towards rebuilding the lowly Heat has become more of a
reality through the acquisitions of JJ Redick and Bismack Biyombo. Their
contributions as members of the starting five have been immense.
JJ
Redick has been able to supply the Heat with an average of 21.5 points from his
first 4 games. He has also managed to produce an amazing knocked down of 3’s to
put him in the top 5 for 3PM in the NLL with 4.5 per game. Many questioned his
large contact, however with the turn-around at Miami thus far he has been
invaluable.

While
JJ has provided the points, Bismack Biyombo has provided the across the board.
The
statistics below show a great spread of what Bismack Biyombo is capable of.
Providing in all senses, this will come in handy for the Miami Heat as the
season has already shaped up as a year for the versatile big men to shine. In a
rotation with Timofey Mozgov he has been able to supply the Heat with much
needed boards and post-up points during the recent games.

The
league has also been presented with a taste of things to come with the
continuing emergence of King Kuz. Kyle Kuzma continues to produce impressive
displays in the NLL, off the back of his stellar Summer League numbers. At the
starting SF position, he has already attained his first MOM award within a
winning game against the LA Lakers. The supporting cast of Devin Harris and
Dwight Powell have also allowed Kuzma to open himself up for multiple scoring opportunities
as well. Could this start be sign of things to come for the young rookie? Could
this be the beginning of a Rookie of the Year season? Whatever is in the cards –
King Kuz has already established himself as a fan favourite.

While the sun continues to shine of the city, The Heat also have much to
question – as starting PG, DJ Augustin is still currently out of action. How
will the team be configured and reshaped once he becomes available after a
brilliant close to the previous season?
With
the progression of the younger signings that the Heat have made, can the Heat
produce the next wave for a future dynasty?
