Last Weeks Turd

The Washington Wizards had a pretty bad opening week. The Wizards were only one of two teams to lose all four of their games in week one, Pheonix being the other, it was a pretty bad way to start the season. It all started with a nine point loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Going to give the Hornets the credit they deserve, they are going to be a good team in the east this year. Robin Lopez dropped 28 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block in this game. Buddy Hield chipped in 21 points of his own, but it was not enough to get the W. The Wizards then suffered their worst loss of the week in Detroit, losing by twenty points! Robin Lopez who dominated the Hornets fell into foul trouble in Detroit. Julius Randle tried his best to pick up the slack, scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Again the Wizards couldnt conjure up a win. Washington then hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder, and even though Darko thought this was the game that would be a blowout, it was actually the closest game of the week. The Wizards did lose by only five points, but knowing the Wizards took it to the Thunder and still had a chance to win gives the team a confidence boots. Julius Randle was the stud in this game scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Finally the Wizards had some hope, they hosted the Indiana Pacers and both teams went into this game winless. Surely the Wizards could finally get a win right? WRONG! The Wizards ended up losing by ten points to the Pacers. Buddy Hield came through with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, but it wasnt enough. I guess on the bright side the only way to go from here is up!
The Good and The Bad

So who were the winners and losers for this week? One of the big winners is Robin Lopez. Lopez ended the week shooting 62%, scoring 17.8 points per game, 7.3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1.3 blocks per game. He has a per of 20.77 and this 29 year old feels rejuvenated. "This season just feels different, i went to the Hakeem Olajuwon camp during the offseason and i think it has paid off." said Lopez. Through four games Lopez is having a career year in scoring, his previous high in scoring was last season at 12.7 points per game. So far he is averaging five more points per game. On the other hand, the player doing the worst is Ish Smith. Smith is averaging 7 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. But his shooting percentage is terrible. Smith is only shooting 23% from the field and 11% from deep. After having a pretty solid preseason, his shots are just cold, like ice age cold. There are already rumors of rookie Frank Mason taking over the starting point guard spot if things dont change soon. We know from insider sources that it may have been the playbook that changed Smiths shots, so GM Darko has given Smith another week to sort it out. The Wizards did change their playbook up and hope that this one will be better for the team overall, but more specifically be better for Ish Smith and his cold shooting streak.
