Week 1 is done and dusted for the Mavericks and the team went out on a high with a great team win against the Pelicans. Sitting with a record of 3-1 to start the season is exactly where the team wanted to be. “We have done all the hard work, and for week one it has all paid off with 3 great wins.” Rick Carlisle said.

The Mavericks came away with wins against the Pelicans, Blazers and the Kings, but dropped a close one at home against the Knicks going down by 4 points. “Somehow Finney Smith found his way onto the court for us in our game against the Knicks, so as per league policy we had to replay the game but the result went the same way.” Smokey said.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
- The team came away with a 3-1 record to start the season, so this is a big positive moving forward.
- Each player played their role, and didn’t try to do too much which is something Rick Carlisle has talked about all off season.
- We had 5 players in double figures for points, and none of them were over 20ppg.
- Lonzo Moved the Ball extremely well to his teammates, and got them all into the games.
- Noel stepped up big this week, with great numbers, but was extremely solid on D with nearl 3 steals per game.

WHAT WENT WRONG
- The team has been working hard on Defence all summer, and set a goal of opposition only scoring 95ppg, currently the team has given up 99ppg. This doesn’t seem huge, but the team will need to work harder on slowing down the opposition.
- Lonzo had a great week, hampered by his 6.5 turnovers per game. Lonzo will adjust the tempo of his game and work on reducing this in the coming weeks.
- 33% from beyond the arc just won’t cut it. Carlisle will work his troops hard at practice in the following weeks perfecting the 3 ball as best they can.

Moving forward the team knows they still have plenty to work on, and will hit the floor running for week two of the regular season.
