Week 1 Preview
Let’s break it down for week 1 of the NLL season. The team is so revved up and ready to go for
week 1, with a completely different roster.
GM Spudspace hasn’t had a chance to tinker with simming and practice, so
there is a lot of question marks about how this team will play. The front office is hoping that the talent on
the court will be good enough for some wins until some practice can be had, and
a better coaching strategy is put in place.
For now, let’s look at the starting lineup this week:
Center – DeMarcus Cousins
Cousins hasn’t played a game yet for the Timberwolves, but he
is already the focal point of the offense.
Surrounding him with 3-point shooters should allow him plenty of space
to work and put up points. The goal is
for Cousins to touch the ball on almost every possession. He is a great passer, can shoot and drive and
post up. There isn’t much he can’t do.
Power Forward – Kevin Love
Love just recently came to the team, and has all the things
you want in a starting power forward. He
can shoot the 3, post up, and rebound like a champ. Defense isn’t his calling card, but hopefully
his offense makes up for this.
Small Forward – Evan Fournier
Fournier was in rumors all offseason to be traded, then he came
out and improved a lot during the start of the NBA season. He’s now a legit threat from downtown and can
take most 3’s off the dribble.
Shooting Guard – CJ McCollum
CJ is one of the best shooting guard in the league. He also can play some point when called
upon. He creates off the dribble and can
shoot lights out form downtown too.
Point Guard – Jeff Teague
The lone returning starter from last season’s playoff team,
he’s a playmaker and can shoot well too.
He tried to leave this offseason, but the team coaxed him back with a
lot of money and GM points.
Game 1: Minnesota @ Utah
The Jazz look like a dominant team this season, and their
starting lineup is just as potent as ours.
With Gasol and Aldridge, the frontcourt matches the Timberwolves, Vince
Carter has lost some with age, but he’s still a capable player. Wiggins will be hard for CJ to deal with, but
luckily, Chris Paul is out and we only have to see Rose (yikes). Prediction:
Wolves Win
Game 2: Golden State @ Minnesota
The Warriors are without Batum, and this may be a downfall
for a playoff team from last season.
Expect Barnes to put up gaudy numbers, but not enough for the Warriors
to survive. Prediction: Wolves Win
Game 3: Minnesota @ Boston
Boston has made some savvy moves and have a great starting
lineup, with KD as the star. They also
have Lopez and Favors, who are a load in the middle, and defensive stopper
Iggy. Not to mention Lowry in the
backcourt. This team might prove too
much for the Wolves to handle.
Prediction: Boston Wins
Game 4: Minnesota @ Detroit
Detroit looks like a team that could surprise anyone, any
night. GM Laddas keeps proclaiming that
his team isn’t going to make the playoffs, but this first week will show what
they are made of. Fox and Simmons scare
me, and Nurkic is a great center. Dipo
looks like he is going to have a career year.
This game could go either way!
Prediction: Wolves Win
Hoping for a 3-1 week, but it could go as bad as 1-3 I
think. We’ll see what we have after this
week, good luck to all teams!
