Grizzlies Stand By Dante

Dante Exum has suffered, what is suspected to be, yet another season ending injury. A separated shoulder, suffered in the pre-season game against the Suns. This is an absolute tragedy for the 21-year-old Australian. Having already lost an entire season to an ACL reconstruction, this would be a huge blow to what many thought, was going to be Exum’s break out year in the league.

He was in the midst of his best off season ever. He put up great numbers at summer league. Had been working out all summer and was showing great signs in the pre-season games, before tragedy struck on a drive to the basket. Exum landed awkwardly and you could tell straight away something was wrong.

GM Dunne spoke after the game. “The medical staff will get together tomorrow to discuss the plan of attack, but right now it doesn’t look good. I saw his shoulder and it wasn’t pretty. We don’t feel unlucky or sorry for ourselves as a club. We just feel so sorry for Dante. I am Heartbroken. He was about to show the world what he was really about”

When Dunne was asked about Dante’s future in the league, he was definitive in his support of the young Aussie. “We love Dante. We will stick by him through this rehab. We will do all we can to keep him at the club once his rookie contract expires at the end of the season. And when we start to build our future he’s the main component”

GM Dunne also thanked the GM’s in the league who have reached out to Dante and the club. “I have heard from a few GM’s and we really appreciate the support for the young fella who is facing the biggest challenge of his life in the next 12 months. Dante will speak to the media in the coming days when we have a full diagnosis and he feels up to it”
