CHALLENGES,
CHANGES, CULTURE
The Miami Heat have been actively looking to round-out their
roster before the free agency flood. With cap space, the Heat will be looking
to acquire some rejuvenating players to turn the tide of the franchise. The new administraiton has been looking to build a Miami Heat culture that has been lacking in recent times. GM
Breece has been scoping the ranks of the upcoming Free Agency class with great
interest, with a mindset towards building a ‘roster’ to accompany the assets
that the team currently has and recruit players wanting to add to the Heat culture.
The first round selection of the Miami Heat, canned by many
within draft ranks and by many of the league’s most respected pundits Kyle
Kuzma continues to impress on and off the court. The 6’9 forward has produced
summer league and pre-season performances with consistency and poise which was
a highly critiqued area of his game.
‘Kyle has been working really hard at training. He is really looking to prove
the doubters wrong and turn his negatives into positives which is what a great
player does.’
In his most recent outings he has managed to put up averages
of 21 ppg, 3rpg and 1apg from his first two pre-season games, which he can only
look to improve on. Fans already dubbing the player 'King Kuz'.
The Summer League Final MVP will be looking to spur on the
new era of the Heat, as the team will look very different in the coming weeks.
One such change has been the recent acquisition of 6’7 guard Czech Republic international Tomas Satoransky
from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a deal that some OKC acquire the Heat’s 2020
Second Round Pick.
‘I have a lot of trust in the ability of Tomas, he has shown
great potential during the off-season and is an asset to the team,’ stated
Breece. ‘We have room for more key acquisitions to rebuild this organisation
and are excited by the prospects ahead.’ Breece went on to describe Satoransky’s
position in the team as an ‘important role player within the roster’.
Satoransky did not see much game time during the previous season with OKC. Only
finding the court for 2 games. However has already shown signs within his
pre-season form posting up 13 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in his first
game. Tomas Satoransky seems a great acquisition for the Miami Heat.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - ALEC
PETERS
The deep 2nd round pick Alec Peters has shown signs of his caliber signing on for a two-way deal. Peters could be
anything. The big-man averaged 23 pts, 10 recounds and 2 3-pointers per game
last season at Valparaiso. He is likely to spend much of his playing time in
the G-League during the season, however is one to watch with much potential as
a big that can shoot.
His G-League participation however hasn't stopped Peters Ice Cream from signing Alec Peters as a brand ambassador with a new advertising campaign carrying the tagline - 'It ain't ice cream, if it ain't Peters'.
