A phenomenon has swept the nation.

Not all hero's wear capes.... But some apparently wear hoodies.

An endless stream of trade and buy out rumours have circulated the status of the Kings franchise star as a disappointing western conference loss fades away and fans look to the upcoming season with excitement.

The basketball purists and those close to the franchise knew Carmelo was and is the focal point, the pillar of this roster to which moves had to be made to compliment his prowess on the basketball court. With that being said even coming into his 15th year in the league Carmelo has taken it upon himself to adapt and expand his game even further. With Pre-season already well under way he has shown glimpses of steps taken in the offseason to become more of a play maker and has scored efficiently after his lacklustre performance in the post season.

The Media managed to get a few minutes with him at the Kings training facility today;

Media: Hey Melo good to see you in form out there... You've been pretty focal yourself ever since the disappointing series loss to the eventual champions in the Spurs. What do you see as the main area to improve in both for yourself and for the team collectively coming into this season?

Melo: Thanks, it's good to be back out here... Ummm well I just really think I didn't perform up to standard... The run we had was something special and I really thought it was our year. All credit to the Spurs of course, we were the underdogs heading in but we just didn't perform as well as we should've, we just need to be better in all aspects and play better under adversity... That falls on me in the end and it had been four years since I last tasted play off basketball and I'm as hungry as ever going into this season.

Media: What do you think of the new acquisitions to bolster the front court in veteran Pau Gasol and youngster Jahlil Okafor heading into the season?

Melo: It's exactly what we need, our front office and coaching staff did great working together to make those moves happen. It's obvious they just have one goal in mind which is to win a championship... You look around the league and all the elite teams have all star calibre front courts and thats the primary thing I feel had to be addressed. There's still a lot of work to be done this off season to fill in all the holes in the roster but I have faith and right now all I'm focusing on is putting in work and getting better with the guys we have.
