All fun and games!
A new season is upon us, and as we do every year, Salt Lake
City is filled with hope and smiles all around.
The memory of last season’s failures to make the playoffs is
slowly fading away, and the NBA carrousel is almost turning back over again with
the start of free agency and trading movement intensifying.
The Utah Jazz made a big-time move going for top PG Chris
Paul, but that cost the team most of its depth and that should be addressed in
the upcoming league period, be it via trades or free agent acquisitions.
The main storyline this offseason is the big 4 that are
already under contract and the possible big 5, with Derrick Rose possibly
joining the fold. Rose has gone to the press and said that he’d be willing to
said as far as a veteran minimum deal to play for a contender. After being top
dog since coming to the team. Derrick Rose is and will always be the superstar
who raised the Utah Jazz from the ashes of obscurity and made the team a
perennial playoff contender.
Pooh-Dini is very respected around the franchise and
management is rumored to be talking to the upcoming free agent to see when the
negotiations can begin, but since all we know are rumors at this point, it
doesn’t hurt to be optimistic.
Another question mark is whether Derrick Rose can play the
shooting guard position. It seems like the coaching staff is going to try to
engage Rose off the ball a use his slashing ability for playmaking purposes to
set up the rest of the shooters on the team. The idea of Chris Paul and Derrick
Rose in the backcourt looks dynamic, even though the team would have to balance
out the shooting from distance at some point since such lineup would be lacking
the 3-ball component at some point.
