PAU PAU!!

This is an era now led by dominating big men and it was painfully obvious this past post season as the main hindrance to the Kings overall success, falling short to the eventual champions as they boast a possible dynasty leading front court. The Kings front office and coaching staff knew what was lacking and were forced to make some changes almost immediately. Nicolas Batum was the centrepiece to a deal involving Kevin Love last off season playing third wheel to Conley and Thompson until the roster was completely overhauled bringing in Carmelo Anthony and Co. Ever since then Batum was being played out of position and although extremely effective, was the odd man out when it came to possible tradable assets to be used to bring in a another big name.

In comes veteran Pau Gasol in his 17th year in the league with career averages of 19.8 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.4 APG and 1.6 BPG shooting 58% from the field. His most impactful years are behind him sure but he is still more then capable having the offence at times run through him, while cleaning the glass and still being considered an elite rim protector. His presence and experience out on the floor being able to share the load with Carmelo as an established and proven leader is whats invaluable.

I feel i have a lot of basketball left in me so I'm grateful for the another chance to really get at it and hopefully be a part of something special. Gasol was asked about upcoming contract stipulations which have seen him opt out of the final year of his previous deal in an attempt to negotiate a more long term stint that could very well see him retire wearing the royal purple. All indications point towards both parties wanting to meet on terms and get pen to paper as the Kings franchise look forward to another successful upcoming season.
