Chris Bosh, Remember Him ??
It has been a busy week for the Memphis
Grizzlies. The Draft Lottery was run and won. For the second year running, the
Grizz did not win. Their pick, projected at 3 fell to 5. This goes with the
suns pick 11 and the nets pick 21. They then have pick 31 and pick 35. 5 picks
in the top 35 is nothing to frown at and with some crafty drafting, the future
looks bright.
In a similar situation to last year
(Simmons & Ingram) the top 2 look pretty much locked in. After that, GM
Dunne has his eye on 3 players, one of which has to fall to 5, so all in all,
the first pick may be a straight forward one, having said that, it would be
unwise to assume anything in this unpredictable league.
News outside of the draft has been
tremendous for the Grizz. Chris Bosh, the forgotten All-star on this young
squad, has come to an agreement with management to dump the remainder of his
$52 million dollar salary off the Grizzlies books. An amount has been agreed
upon to be covered by league insurance. This means that if Bosh returns, it
will be on a much smaller and very attractive salary for contending teams
looking to acquire him. Rumours are already swirling that The Lakers are interested in him in the NBA world.
That word “IF†was made a little more
clearer today, with Bosh quoting, on a TV interview, That he is feeling great
and that he wants to play in the NLL in 2017/18. This is amazing news for Chris
himself, The Grizzlies and all the NLL, as you never want to see superstars not
playing. The Grizz have had no secrets in the fact they are looking to move
Bosh, who, if returning healthy on a very small contract, must be a mouth
watering prospect for teams around the league, who are one piece away from
winning it all.
