Wizards look forward to next season

0-4 Playoff Run

Well it was exciting while it lasted. The Washington Wizards went into the playoffs and took on the Philadelphia 76ers in a 1st seed vs 8th seed match-up. The first two games went down to the wire where the Wizards lost game one by two points in overtime, and lost game two by three points. After that it wasn't even close. Wizards failed to use their home court as an advantage, and lost games three and four at home. "The 76ers are a great team, we fought hard but they were just a superior team to ours. We wish VT and the 76ers luck going forward into the playoffs, and look forward to next season and hope we reach the playoffs again." said GM Darko. Klay Thompson was the main guy for the Wizards scoring 25 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in the playoffs. Julius Randle was the other main guy averaging 19.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. This was a historic season for them, as the Wizards haven't been in the playoffs since their 2010-2011 season. They had the most wins this season since their last playoff birth, and critics praised Darko for turning the team around, along with trading a bunch of old guys for a brighter future in Washington.
The Future

So what lies ahead for the Washington Wizards future. Well the two top players for the Wizards Klay Thompson and Julius Randle are locked in for a few more years. This will give GM Darko a couple players to build around. Ish Smith and veteran Jameer Nelson will be back as well. Then GM Darko has to decide on guys like Andre Roberson, Gary Payton II, and Cristiano Felicio. These guys have team options or could have a qualifying offer put on them. The Wizards also have Roy Hibbert, Bismack Biyombo, Kris Humphries, Mike Miller, Jeff Green, Tiago Splitter, and Brandon Bass whom are all unrestricted free agents. Then there is the NLL Draft, the Wizards have three second round picks, and they are all involved in a tie breaker scenario. The earliest pick would be the Toronto pick, which will be either 34th or 35th. Then the Mavericks pick which will be either 38th or 39th, and then finally the Suns pick which will be either 41st or 42nd. The Wizards also look to have a lot of cap room this off-season to go after those free agents. It should be a fun off-season for GM Darko.
