Playoffs!
The Playoffs are almost here
and let’s hope things go well for this blooming team. With the team relatively healthy, this will
be a great chance to show the league who we really can be. We are looking forward to a competitive first
round against the Denver Nuggets.
Looking through all the first round matchups, it doesn’t feel like the
West has a lot of easy outs this year.
Usually you expect a couple of first round sweeps, but really there isn’t
anyone that looks like they won’t put up a fight. That being said, the Nuggets are as good of
an opponent as you can get.
If anyone remembers, I did a
podcast earlier in the year where I actually predicted Denver coming out of the
West. Hopefully this isn’t the case, but
that was predicated on loving how Favors plays for them, then they traded him
away. I always loved the combo of Favors
and Gortat on the inside, as they are crazy good finishers. They have some great players in Kanter and
Gordon now instead, but it remains to be seen if that was a good trade for
them.
There won’t be much in the
way of lineup shifting for the Wolves, as they don’t have a lot of options. The Nuggets look like they could easily shift
2 or 3 players around in their starting lineups, but the only real shift that
we have is possibly putting Glenn Robinson III back into the starting lineup if
T.J. Warren gets owned. I don’t see this
being the case as Otto Porter isn’t going to own Warren, he may win the
matchup, but the SF position isn’t gonna be where we lose this game.
The real problem for us this
series is going to be John Wall. Jeff
Teague isn’t known for his defensive ability, and he’s not as fast as
Wall. If Teague can just hold Wall to
under 20 points, I think we have a legit shot at winning.
